I have been on TRT for over 20 years because I need it to stay mid range on scale. I take 50 units once a week. That keeps me in the 450- 600 range. Everyone will be different. The results are not earth shaking for me. TRT is only one part of the equation. A lot of other things need to be on target also. Diet and exercise are extremely important. Many expect too much. Taking too much and being over scale has definite long term risks!!!!!!!!!!

A lot of guys do TRT who don't really need it.  It's basically doing cycles of gear under a doctor's supervision.

They want their levels at 800+

Sure, there are sexual/muscle benefits, but it's also difficult to come off of.  It can be time-consuming to level out and doesn't come without unfun side effects.

That said, if you have low T, it's a great thing.

If I were to ever do it, I'd only do it under the eye of a licensed endocrinologist and regular blood work.

I will suggest he does it at one of the many LabCorp locations in town. If prescribed  by a doctor it's only $130, he could do the it every 3 months.

That would barely keep the spark plugs wet... levels need or should remain even . Best advice would be to tell your friend to visit with a physician and to get regular labs done to ensure all health markers remain where they should  IF "TRT" is started.
It's ALL even better when people rely more on training and DIET and less on chemicals but  unfortunately few take that approach.

We're talking about testosterone not steroids.

Chemical or medicine sometimes is in the eyes of the beholder, many of us take PrEP, Viagra and supplements daily.

Test is test.  Unless you're medically low, it's basically the same effect when you're having a 'doctor' jacking your levels.

A body can't tell the difference and will act accordingly.

Meaning, it will (mostly) cease producing its own test and rely solely on what it's being given by injection.

It can be a really slippery road.

I hate to tell you pal... anyone injecting testosterone is officially on anabolic steroids.
Natural testosterone is a steroid — an anabolic-androgenic steroid. "Anabolic" refers to muscle building, and "androgenic" refers to increased male sex characteristics.

Thank you, I wasn't aware of that! This has been a very useful thread

Besides your healthy diet what would you advise?

Well, I'm neither a clinical dietitian or a physician so I'm not in a position to advise however, I really do think your friend ought  to make an appointment with a physician if he's concerned about low testosterone levels... "TRT" allows for legal use of synthetic testosterone and under the supervision of a physician who would monitor health markers.
I will add that if he did clean up his diet and train accordingly he would reap benefits of newly raised testosterone levels.

Hey X we got your results back! I went ahead and sent the results to your email as well. Your testosterone was pretty middle of the range, but your estradiol came back very low which could cause lower energy and libido. You're all set to get that consultation scheduled for Friday! He has 10am-1:30pm open.

He just got the results from LabCorp, and will go ahead and have a consultation on Friday.

He's also determined to get physicals every 3 months

Again, I am no physician but I do know that 460 is within the normal range... 1000 it seems to me would be considered  high and could potentially cause other problems.  I'm hopeful your friend will find a good physician 👨🏻‍⚕️ to give him excellent and sound advice.

"Studies have shown that total testosterone levels in males between the ages of 19 and 39 range between 300 and 1000 ng/dL. These are considered normal testosterone levels in males. Anything above 1000 ng/dL total testosterone (30 ng/dL free testosterone) is considered high testosterone in men."

He's 50!

Maybe 🤔 with proper training, diet and TRT he will appear and function as 35 😜 🙌🏽👌🏽

He's been always in a healthy diet, he goes to the gym six times a week.

Thank you!.

By the way out of curiosity how much protein do you eat everyday to look the way you do?

I take a very small dosage of an estrogen blocker because my estriadol tends to be on high side.  I also take HCG to reduce shrinkage and permanent atrophy. Then donate blood every other month to keep my iron levels from going through the roof. It is a balancing act. But it's worth it.

News update!

He's doing fine, elevated his testosterone level to 600, and he feels young again, he's also taking estrogen blockers and getting tested every month at LabCorp.

he might stop doing TRT or do it less often.

Suddenly stopping TRT is "maybe" not a good idea! I would consult an endo that specialized in TRT.

He's been taking 1ML per week and he started on December 1st. Before that a friend gave him a couple of injections in November, therefore he's been on it for 2 months.

yes, he'll slowly stop doing it while measuring his testosterone level, he doesn't want to go over 800 because he's now "too horny".

I’m going on 6 months plus on the topical 2 pumps a day.  Doctor monitored with blood tests.
Only downside for me is ball shrinkage. It’s real.  However while they were bigger before, they weren’t producing enough Testosterone.  I’ll have to live with the trade off for a better libido.

Went from slightly bigger than average, they are now about 30% smaller.  Just enough to go hiding more regularly when it’s cold so filling out a jock as a grower not a show-er isn’t in the cards anymore.

oh well, I’d rather have a working set and the energy back.

Take 250 mcg of HCG every third day.  Buy HCG 10000. Your balls and sac will drop and it mellows you out.

I did my own research and asked my doctor for a script. I also do a 1/2 a pill of estrogen blockers every other day. My estradiol level is perfect. World of difference.

This escort I know takes two pills of 1 mg anaztrozole l per week to block the production of estrogen

In my previous hiring career, I did lots of overnights. ( I don't hire anymore-for one thing I have no money. And even if I did, my libido is mostly in the 'toilet'. My urologist on seeing how low my testosterone level was recently said, "I'm surprised you're awake.")

TRT is your solution!

Oh you've said or rather written a mouthful. When I was last on testosterone, my PSA shot up really high. While testosterone can cause elevations, this was really high. It made the urologist nervous. He sent off an experimental test that I can't remember the name of to assess my risk of prostate cancer. He expected it to be low. It wasn't. He decided to get an MRI.

I was in a tizzy because some places insert  an endorectal coil to perform a prostate MRI. And the place I was getting it done did use one. As I've told on here in the distant past but will repeat for newcomers, aside from not wanting to be gay, one of the things that kept me a virgin until I was 41 was the thought of bottoming. I have a phobia about being penetrated much more than possibly a finger tip. And maybe really only  a 1/4 of a finger tip would be ok. (In case anyone is wondering I also have a phobia about catheterization).

Also as a background to this-I have a history of some type of chronic pelvic pain syndrome or chronic prostatitis starting in my early 30's.

I could go on but to make a long story slightly shorter-I was able to get them to perform the MRI without the coil-some places routinely do it without the coil. So this isn't unheard of.

As I recall the results, the prostate showed evidence of inflammation. And there was one area that they couldn't really define well for some reason. They didn't say it was cancer. But because of this area, they wouldn't resume the testosterone unless I had a biopsy. As my PSA was low with a normal digital exam, they were fine with not doing the biopsy if I wasn't on testosterone.

So that's where it stands. Plus now they say I have evidence of coronary artery disease. So they might not start it even if my prostate we're suddenly normal.
