The St. James has the worst house seats of any theatre, and that’s with a renovation.

I got to see (Patti) “Gypsy” a couple times from the box- those seats were some of the best I’ve had in any house!  Other seats I’ve had in the mezzanine and orchestra have been adequate (I guess I had been lucky), but this side balcony seat was truly horrendous!

Glad you enjoyed it, but even more glad the show is raising big bucks for BC/EFA :)

They implied that something similar happened after the previous performance, as well!

Standing Room would be better at the St. James if it meant not having to sit down.

but it's the stand-by Caroline Bowman who I really want to see do this.

She was the standby in the last revival of Evita (she also led the tour). Her voice is massive and I think she'd be the best singer of this role out of all three.

OMG, she was amazing.  I hope you were there yesterday!

She sounds phenomenal!  For those who have seen her, I do wonder if she comes across as too young for the role (even in this production/concept)… I believe she’s in her mid-late-30s since she was in college around the same time I was.

Way too young. The voice needs to growl. This isn’t it. It’s like a 12 year old running around in Mommy’s heels. Cute but not believable.

For the record, Mandy Gonzalez (the current understudy) also pretty much sucked in the role.

If Nicole Scherzinger isn’t performing, don’t go, or get your money back.

The real break out NYC performance however is David Thaxton as Max. He really delivers the gravitas the role requires.

Sadly, Tom Francis was much better (and 20 lbs lighter) in London. Nobody wants a doughy Joe Gillis parading around in his underwear. Even an aging Hollywood star isn’t gonna chase that fat boy around.

At least Gonzalez is age appropriate and has been wonderful in everything I have seen her in.  When I saw Francis in December I thought he was incredibly hot and looked fit to me (though I was sitting very far back lol).

I'ma disagree on this one.

She was a MONSTER Eva in the last national tour of Evita.  Bowman handled that very tough role...  A role that's vocally much, much more difficult than Sunset.

While I agree that Sherzy is the performer to see in this role, I wouldn't discount Bowman's talent for singing based on this single performance and two bootlegs.
