SouthOfTheBorder Posted June 18, 2024 Posted June 18, 2024 (edited) recently discovered one member profile who posts as a client, but appears to be a provider I think everybody know it happens occasionally aside from hyping themselves and their provider friends - they’re trying to change perceptions of normal rates, deposit policies & rant about negative provider reviews by members here. when real clients disagree or have a different opinion, then the insults start a tad ironic to be debating typical pricing with a provider who is just trying to raise his own rates no problem with providers here making their points however they want to do it. But when assuming identity of a client then that seems to be a problem when discovered - should they be banned ? Edited June 18, 2024 by SouthOfTheBorder pubic_assistance 1

It was obvious they were the same two people. When discovered early on - he went silent allowing enough time to pass for people to forget. Now he’s back - hyping same provider profile and other engaging w others in a deceptive ways the mods seems more interested in keeping a lid on vitriol & off-topic rants vs sussing out the imposters that are really pretty good with a lot of time & energy put into the effort. is it in anyone’s interest to have a fake client profile (who is an active provider) reviewing providers & talking about rates while trying to downplay real negative reviews ? btw - according to COM member posts - this one fake client profile is operating as multiple provider profiles these sort of deceptions add to the narrative of providers being dishonest & scammers. scammers in online anonymous forums are impossible to eliminate - it is possible to expose them tho & let people draw their own conclusions Edited June 18, 2024 by SouthOfTheBorder

RadioRob Posted June 18, 2024 Posted June 18, 2024 It happens from time to time. There is not a specific rule against people having multiple accounts on the site or for not "pretending" to be someone. With that being said, there are times the actions taken can result in action being taken against an account. For example, I remember a situation last year where a provider created a dozen accounts to promote/protect themselves and spammed the forums. At the end of the day, there is no FOOL PROOF way of proving someone is a provider or not. So the short answer is IT DEPENDS. How bad was the actions taken by the provider? What proof is available? How problematic is the person being? If you feel someone is disrupting the site, feel free to report the post. You can also bring it up in the Ask a Moderator forum.
