I really enjoyed the first part of Dune, but I was very disappointed in Part 2. The first part was very accurate to the book, the minor differences only improved it. Part 2 seemed chaotic to me, and veered off the book in ways that bothered me. And for the record, I'm not reflexively disliking it JUST because it didn't follow the book. What do y'all think?

I LOVED Part 2. Ironically your’re the first person I’ve heard saying they liked Part 1 better.

As an avid fan having read the books 50 years ago, I liked both. But…I work with a lot of younger 18-28ish people - who haven’t read the books - and they didn’t like Part 1 as a standalone movie, but loved Part 2 🤷🏻‍♂️

I don’t necessarily follow reviews, Rotten Tomatoes, etc….but Part 2 is wildly more popular than 1.

I watched both parts 1 and 2 again on a rainy day. It was okay - definitely star studded, but it didn't do a good job of telling the story. The Syfy channel mini series did a better job in staying true to the story and dealing with all the moving parts. I also like the Syfy channel follow up "Children of Dune" as it continues the story. As a bonus, it had a great soundtrack.

I liked Part I better, too.  I read the books too long ago to remember whether Part II veered off the book, but I found Part II to be disturbingly dark compared to Part I.

Never knew about the SyFy series.  Will have to see where I can watch it.
