TheDannyIrish
Hey Guys, Wondering if anyone can offer up any solution for a provider visiting NYC, accommodation costs are way too high to make it worth while.
hungry4darkmeat
I recommend the city club hotel it’s usually quite reasonable and they don’t give you any drama about guests etc. alternatively there’s always the no-tell senton motel with short stay rates and you can smoke (!) without having to sneak about it
+ robear
I saw a provider recently who booked his space in NYC with Sonder. Like airbnb but they control the properties they rent. Was positive about the experience and said it wasn't too expensive. Not sure what that meant to him, but you could check it out. https://www.sonder.com/
+ WstVlgChris
Look at places in Long Island City (Queens) or downtown Brooklyn. Hotels there are often considerably cheaper.
Simon Suraci
This is the main hurdle for me to visit the Big Apple. I’ve stayed in Sonder accommodations before, in New Orleans, and had a decent experience. Thanks for the tips. I’ll follow for any more.

I visited an escort staying at a Sonder Waterfront in DC and it was very nice, perfect hybrid between hotel and Airbnb. I'm surprised they're still available after the crackdown. At least in this town they have the same prices as hotels. It's always expensive unless you book the 2nd half of January. I've done it a few times with family to avoid lines while going to all attractions. Hotels are really pushing it lately to make it up for the lost revenue and Airbnb. You can also stay in Brooklyn and Astoria but you'll spend the whole day in Manhattan anyways. SouthOfTheBorder
Hotel expenses in NYC are hit & miss. It’s better to plan a trip around dates where hotels are less for whatever reason. High prices are largely driven by specific events or conventions/groups on certain dates. There are various odd times throughout the year where hotel prices are reasonable. The AirBNB restrictions have had some effect on hotel pricing - although that was at the bottom part of the market and likely little effect on the better hotels. Nobody was making a choice between AirBNB or a Ritz Carlton or Mandarin. If you are stuck with exact dates & no flexibility- then yes, it will probably be expensive. Everything in NYC is very expensive these days - the hotels are just the beginning.
