HSV-1 recurrence

I caught HSV-1 over 3 decades ago, probably through oral sex.  Unpleasant initial symptoms, but soon cleared up and no recurrence.

However a couple of weeks ago I noticed pain and a tingling in my right buttock and groin area, which is gradually subsiding. Could this be a HSV-1 recurrence after such a long break?
