London suggestions

Hey I’m thinking of taking a spontaneous trip to London next week.  Any suggestions for locations and somewhat affordable hotels?  Gay neighborhoods?  I’ve been there before but never explored their gay scene.  Will look to hire rentmen but I’ll ask about that on appropriate forum.  Thanks.
