She already filmed her scene and didn't have to see or talk to any of the other cast members or crew.

Probably played out as a zoom meeting or some such so that there can appear to be interaction but they do not need to be in each other's presence. Have they explained Smantha's absence?  I have not seen any of the renewed version.

She’s starring in new Netflix series, Glamorous, basically as a mannequin a zillion degrees of separation from Samantha persona.
