I've been doing this for about a month and it's great. Every day I get better at it and I feel like I am expanding my "web" of clients. If there are any experienced escorts out there that wouldn't mind showing the ropes to a eager student I would really appreciate it. I want to learn how to filter out the flakes, what are some good places to advertize and what are decent rates. Any bit of help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks!

Advise to a Young Escort

 

Although I am a client rather than an escort I’m going to chime in anyway. Fortunately you have selected the right place to ask your questions. You might want to contact Scott Adler. He is a young and an experienced escort. Scott lives in West Hollywood, and has been helpful to more than one new, young escort.

 

Try to have a client write and post a review on this site and on http://www.maleescortreview.com. You might also want to consider posting a profile on the above site as well. I think you will find that clients who find you on these two sites are most often knowledgeable, experienced, and serious about hiring escorts. Many escorts begin by putting up a profile on http://www.rentboy.com but I have heard some guys complain about the number of flaky calls they receive from that site. Rentboy does serve the purpose of letting you know what the competition is like in your area as well as what guys are charging

 

Two things I would emphasize so you get a good start in any ads you take out. 1.) Arrange to have some good (professional) photographs taken. Consider posting a face shot, a cock shot, an ass shot and a nude torso shot. However, most clients will understand if you do not want, for privacy reasons, to put up a face shot. 2.) Check and double check the spelling and grammar of your ad text. Both of these items lend an aura of professionalism to an ad and THAT IS WHAT YOU WANT TO DO.

I'm just a client too but the advice here is good.

 

You want to consider advertising on men4rentnow.com and surprisingly Craig's List altho I understand lots of police departments monitor CL as well. But it's free at least. I met the escort I am currently seeing on a regular basis on CL. But I would imagine that the number of flakes you meet there may be fairly high.

 

I would also say make sure you keep yourself in good shape and as clean and fresh as possible unless some one specifically requests some sort of fetish that you don't mind providing. If you smoke you might want to consider quitting. I personally automatically factor out anyone who smokes.

 

Consider getting certified in massage if you are not already or at least some training. Knowing how to touch some one can serve you well forever. I enjoy starting my sessions by getting a massage first. I like the intimate contact of that. And if I am with some one who really knows what he is doing in that regard it is a definite plus.

 

Be friendly and courteous at all times including in your emails. And also be prompt in your responses.

 

I think it is also important to know what your boundaries are and stick to them. Being open-minded can be an asset with regard to what you are willing to do but make sure you are really comfortable doing them.

 

Also, some acting skills can come in handy. Be totally focused on your client when you are with him. Make him think he is the center of your universe by being interested in what he has to say. I think many of us are more interested in just having a hot young guy pay us some attention and listen to what we have to say. Sharing some intimacy and simple body contact can be rewarding. Also if you can manage kissing, really kissing, I think most guys get into that.

 

For your own safety you may want to also think about having a friend who can look out for you and who knows where you are going to be.

 

Obviously if you can cultivate a cadre of regular clients I would assume that works best for an escort. Going to see a known commodity will probably put you both at ease. I'm not sure if anyone does it, but you might want to consider a sort of "frequent client" plan with somewhat lower rates for your regulars to encourage them to see you more often for the guys you enjoy spending time with. Maybe that is too self-serving an idea from me. I am currently seeing a guy fairly regularly and I think it is going to put me in the poor house. His rates are fairly high, but he is a quality boy so ultimately I think he deserves them if he can get them. But if he would cut me a deal I would be inclined to see him even more often.

Welcome to the site.

 

I concur with much of the advice that's been offered here by both clients and escorts. Let me throw in a plug for http://www.rentmen.com another site you should consider posting an advertisment. It's managment certainly seems more customer focused than either RB or M4R. And by "customer" I mean both client and escort.

 

Let me add that it's helpful to clients if you post your hourly rate rather than none at all or "rate varies" or "ask me". Some escorts may disagree with this (sorry Scott) but having a published rate will eliminate a lot of issues. A posted rate is the quickest way for a client to know if he's able to budget for your time. Also a "varies" to me and many other clients means "totally and completely negotiable" (again, sorry Scott).

 

Don't be changing your name from site to site or choose a new alias after a year or two. This is usually a clear sign to clients that the escort may not be reliable and needs to change his name due to a bad reputation. (There are practical exceptions to name change issues like a relocation but let people know about it up front by making an official announcement on the MC.)

 

You are new to this and it's all very exciting right now I'm sure. But keep in mind that not everyone, both client and escort, is going to be on the up and up. If you hear from a client who says he'll fly you to Paris, London and Rome and all you have to do is cash this $8,000 check for him....don't do it. It just might be a scam. Sorry to be a voice of reason here but better to be safe than sorry.

 

And speaking of safe, ALWAYS use a condom no matter how much the client offers you to bareback. No amount of money is worth your life. You should always be prepared and have condoms and lube for every session it's your responsibility and a sign of professionalism.

Hi;

From what I've just read in this forum, you've been given a LOT of GREAT advice by guys who know what they're talking about!!

The only other thing I would add is that you answer all Emails ASAP & communicate well with your potential clients...(Spell-check, etc)...

I have heard from many of my (now) regular clients that their Emails have gone unanswered or that the response time was longer than 2-3 days....(missed opportunities=LOST $$!).....
