No, I didn't mean that. What a wonderful world it could be if we could visit a gay men's spa website and choose our masseur with the help of a photo. Not in my lifetime. However, if you're trying to attract gay men (or any man) to a spa experience, you can certainly do better than what Shangrila offers. The website is little more than a Yellow pages listing. LOL. (PS  I guess it could be worse. The pages could offer naked women in the photos, the generic kind.)

Had a nice massage with Sam this weekend. Deep and strong, with some stretching, from Bangladesh with a pretty thick beard. Would love to try Ricardo next based on all of the feedback.

Wanted to follow up and report that Lucas was fantastic. Highly recommend. He’s young and very handsome, muscular, chill, kind.
 

He did not once mention tips; Ricardo did (though it didn’t bother me too much bc it was my first time there and I didn’t mind hearing some info about expectations). 

I really like the staff and the vibe of the place.

Tried Ricardo. He is indeed very polite. He is Mexican about 5'6" and lean. Massage was on the lighter side, but he's engaging with the finale. I probably wouldnt repeat as I prefer deep massages.

I’ve now tried Ricardo, Sam and Andre. Found all three to be just okay in terms of quality of massage (a little on the light side). Extras were good from all but no one I’m necessarily rushing to repeat. When I go again, I will likely see Andre or Sam just because they seemed a little more into the experience. I do always appreciate that they never ask about tips/short on time when I’m at Shangrila.

I agree with you about massage quality. I do not think of this as a place where one should go for proper massage therapy. These staff members are not licensed. I prefer that they use light strokes and focus on relaxation rather than therapy bc I wouldn’t want them to cause damage. (I did get some tension in my back from one of the massages.)

That said, you can always request an adjustment to the pressure. 

I regularly see an incredible LMT in my home city and what’s done at Shangri La is amateurish. However, the staff members do things that my LMT does not, and it’s a wonderful environment.

Im coming back to New York next month, would you please recommend some places or hot masseurs ? 
my last visit was not good, except for the north african at Hushmanhattan 🥵🥵, the other places you cannot choose your masseur. 
i would love some suggestions.

Does anyone know if the Chris that is back on the schedule at Shangrila is the Chris that used to work there? Any insights? His massages were fantastic!!
