What happens when an escort re-enters traditional workforce?

I was thinking about this today and wondered how do you fill

the "gap" during which time you worked as an escort? On resumes they always seem to look for consistent employment and this could be a difficult span of time to explain.

If an escort decides to go back to that sort of workforce reality, he can always create references from his list of past clientele (if they are willing to vouch for him) and fill in those pesky gaps.

Depending on how long you've been a 'working guy,' you can also easily fall back onto a past college degree and say you've spent the past (fill in the blank) tending to a family issue. That could mean many things, so it's a generalized (but plausable) answer.

The trick is to fill things in without creating more problems for yourself in the longrun. Don't overtly lie, ('I was raising a family') but also don't tell them more than they need to know ('I'm Richard Hatch'). Employers seem to look past quite a bit as long as the interview goes well.

My advice as an escort to an escort: Invest wisely. Educate yourself in the real estate market, mutual funds, tech stocks and secure trust accounts (lichtenstein trusts, etc). Never waste a great opportunity by not making that initial jump.

Tell'm you worked for a 'airline'.

Working in the airline industry:

1. We work in weird shifts...

Like prostitutes

2. They pay you to make the client happy...

Like a prostitute

3. The client pays a lot of money, but your employer keeps almost

every penny...

Like a prostitute

4. You are rewarded for fulfilling the client's dreams...

Like a prostitute

5. Your friends fall apart and you end up hanging out with people in the

same profession as you...

Like a prostitute

6. When you have to meet the client you always have to be perfectly groomed....

Like a prostitute

7. But when you go back home it seems like you are coming back from hell...

Like a prostitute

8. The client always wants to pay less but expects incredible things from you...

Like a prostitute

9. When people ask you about your job, you have difficulties to explain it...

Like a prostitute

10. Everyday when you wake up, you say:

I'M NOT GOING TO SPEND THE REST OF MY LIFE DOING THIS".....

Like a prostitute

REMARKS

The only difference is the prostitutes can take Christmas and New Year's Eve

off and they actually DO make a lot of Money!!!

I would think that telling them you had been a consultant (on a subject you know enough about to sound convincing) would be vague enough to get you off the hook.

I actually know of an escortwho returned to the 9-5 life and when interviewed he stated that he had been employed in a confidential capacity as an assistant to an international businessman. When he was asked for further details he sat there with a straight face and said the confidentiality agreement he had signed prevented him from giving out any details whatsoever.

He must have said something right - he got the job.

I think there are many things you can say. Consulting is a good option as is dealing with family.

I'm in the process of interviewing for a couple jobs right now (if I will take any of them is yet to be decided). My response is fairly easy as I've spent the past couple years doing as much work in the performing arts world as I have in the escorting world.

But at the same time it's an interesting spot to be in, considering going back to a regular job after spending a couple years in a very non-traditional work environment.

This is a timely topic for me. An escort that I see rather regularly and have become friends with (I still pay him for sex but we hang out sometimes) recently said he wants to go back to the 9 to 5 routine and has the same problem of what to put on the resume. I suggested that he say that he had been a personal trainer. He could carry that off and I don't know of any way to check except to ask who his clients were. Of course to the latter question, he could claim confidentiality.

I also told him that over the years I have hired quite a few people for both professional and blue collar positions. Not once did I or the company's Human Resources Dept. check out what was on the resume. I was once interviewing for a position and asked the guy in charge of hiring if he wanted a list of references. His reply was, "I can tell you're much too smart to list anyone that wouldn't give you a glowing recommendation. So, what's the point?"

Most of the time, these items on the resume are there to do a couple of things:

1) Make sure you're not lazy and are use to working.

2) Give the interviewer something to discuss with you. The past job doesn't matter, it's the interaction with you and the interviewer that counts.

What really matters is how you come across in the interview. If you seem to be intelligent and would "work and play well with others" you get lots of stars. If you wind up stabbing yourself in the head with a fork during lunch, forget the job.

However, if you plan on applying to the CIA, FBI, LE, etc., tell the truth. It may be that they can use your "talents."
