Miami/South Florida Questions

Can anyone help me pin down a good location that would be convenient for lots of clients in either the South Beach or Fort Lauderdale areas? (how would these two places compare, as far as escorting business goes?) I have never been to South Florida, and will be visiting Miami right before the Labor Day long weekend for work (then spending the long weekend doing a little escorting and sightseeing). Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks! Jay

In my view, Ft. Lauderdale now is a more gay-oriented vacation destination than South Beach, where many of the gay bars have closed down. That is not to say that gays don't visit Sobe any more, they still do, and there is still a gay beach (around 12/13th St). But in Ft. Lauderdale, there are many more gay clubs, restaurants and bed&breakfasts. As a point of comparison, I think there are only a couple of gay b&b's in Sobe and close to 20 in Ft. Lauderdale.

 

Late August/early September is not the tourist season, in fact it is the hurricane season, so many people avoid the area because of the heat and humidity. But you might luck out and get nice weather. It's a crap shoot.

 

In Sobe, the area is very built up and parking is next to impossible, so many tourists don't bother renting a car. If you opt for there, stay near Collins Ave between 20th and 9th.(1st is at the southern tip and above 22nd or 23rd, you are close to the northern part of Sobe. That way, clients can walk to your place if you are doing in-calls. I have visited escorts in the large hotels there or in their apartments or had them to my hotel, depending on the situation, and it all worked fine.

 

If you stay in Ft. Lauderdale, the gay section (Wilton Manors) is a taxi ride away from the beach (on the mainland) whereas many gay b&b's are between the intercoastal and the ocean. Most tourists rent cars in Ft. Lauderdale to get around and the parking is relatively easy. I have visited escorts there who stayed at gay b&b's and the setting was very nice and discreet (so many people coming and going that clients won't be noticed).

 

Each city is serviced by an airport that is relatively close (a 20 minute taxi), each is relatively safe at night, each has a gay beach (Ft Lauderdale's is at St Sebastien) and for club listings and events, consult the Hotspots magazine that comes out weekly.

In FT L, the gay bars are 5 miles from the hotels. So you have to rely on taxis or drink and drive. In SoBe, you don't need a car. The hotels and beach and some gay bars are within walking distance. The Twist at 11th and Washington has strippers most nights in the bungalow bar. Mostly muscular boys from South America.

To answer the original question, I prefer the South Beach Best Western at 11th and Washington, across from Twist and two blocks from the beach. Clean hotel with swimming pool at a very reasonable price.
