You fail to mention the number of Canadian escorts who spend inordinate amounts of time stateside. Now that the Canadian dollar is almost at partity with the US dollar it will interesting to see how many continue crossing the boarder.

>Re your website and the comments in this thread: T M I !!

Too much information for you is not enough information for me.

There ain't no such thing as a perfect website. It depends on who you are trying to reach, and what you are trying to convey. Since THIS is often in the eye of the beholder, one size cannot fit all.

Aww...you lads are so cute. I just read this thread and realize that though Draker asked for both opinions there is a good reason this section is called "Ask An Escort." You haven't the slightest clue what this guy meant when he said "You're too professional."

Though he probably approached Draker about his services when he went to his website the realization hit him that the guy he was communicating with, actually made money by being an escort and this was a turn off. It wasn't that this guy picture fishing, as I take it from his comment he had lost interest and thus probably wouldn't want any more pictures...as the more would probably go to prove his fact that Draker was too professional. It wasn't that Draker was impersonal he could have been as caring has he ever it would still in the mind of this inquiring guy to prove that Draker was too professional. It wasn't the copy of his website, Draker saying "I'm very good looking" or the color scheme of a black background.

Draker could have taken in all your suggestions gaining your approval however this guy would have concluded that he was too professional. He, the inquiring client, wasn't comfortable with the idea of knowing that he was paying for "sex" and by hiring someone who has a developed website and responds in due time puts this realization to the front.

The guys who visit and post on this site have a different profile than the one who approached Draker and probably the main reason all of this other humorous conclusions have been made. These are people who are really comfortable with hiring an escort for many reason some include not trusting a professional escort to really be discrete, and not enjoying the fact that a professional escort has probably slept with a lot of guys, etc.

No offense almost like what deej said maybe someone who doesn't hire you because you have a black background and seriously takes offense to "I'm very good looking," enough not to hire you is someone you don't want hiring you in the first place.

So what can you do, Steven? Know where you audience is coming from...sometimes it's not a good thing to show people your website. If they want to believe that you only escort from time to time and thus making a special exception with them then let them believe it...I am sure it would be fun for you too.

Jay's crystal ball.

"You haven't the slightest clue what this guy meant when he said "You're too professional.""

Maybe a tarot card reader should be consulted?

Advertisers and merchants almost never hear why a customer walks away from a product. Unless every customer spells it out in words, it's all a guessing game; hence, the proliferation of focus groups and "tell us about our product" forms.

I admire the fact that Steven opened up the question to the entire board. Until now, I put off my desire to share my criticisms with him, and this moment felt right because he asked.

Personally, I could care less about the precise customer in question. No one can please everyone and there will always be a reason for someone to say "no thanks." I posted to this thread because I feel Steven's a great guy who deserves a better website representation and this provided a good opportunity to say so.

"almost like what deej said maybe someone who doesn't hire you because you have a black background and seriously takes offense to "I'm very good looking," enough not to hire you is someone you don't want hiring you in the first place."

I can only laugh at a statement like this because it reeks of bruised-ego-response and insecurity. Any businessman who thinks packaging and advertising don't matter is a FOOL.

Sure, there are many men who like to purchase street punks, where brains and the concept of professionalism translates to drop-out-hustle. However, if an escort is interested in being taken seriously as a "professional," there are ways to do it that WON'T communicate as meretricious.

There's nothing "cute" or "humorous" about turning off a great customer, with dollars to spend, before you get him in the door.

RE: Jay's crystal ball.

No bruised ego stud nor do I posses a crystal ball, I just have a little more insight of the subject. A black background is not going to turn away anyone who is seriously looking. It will only turn away someone looking for an excused to be turned away, not much difference from that person and a person who insist of collection pictures.

Top graphic designers say "no black backgrounds, EVER" even to pro photographers who love them...etc etc

There are many successful companies that have websites with black backgrounds. As I pointed out the before I doubt the client's rejection about Draker being too professional, which I believe was his only inquiry about suggestions, "So there is my question - what is being too professional - is that a turn off?"would have changed if he had maybe a blue background.

I do think that packaging and advertising matter, heavily in fact. I think we all have agreed it matters, so no need to call anyone a fool. The fact that Draker however spent much time on cleaning his packaging and advertising is what turned this guy away. I however think I'm repeating myself....

Is it me or does anyone else believe they are becoming slightly jaded by this board...I feel like I can see myself turning into a bitter middle age slightly over weight man by responding and that's not cool. Maybe I need a holiday.

RE: Jay's crystal ball.

"I just have a little more insight of the subject."

I mean no offense, but what subject are you referring? "Professional" escorting? Advertising? Merchandising? Web design? Copy writing? Tarot card reading? Balls of crystal?

"A black background is not going to turn away anyone who is seriously looking."

I don't recall anyone saying it would. In advertising, "serious" customers aren't the only market share worth pursuing. Professionalism, even in the business of escorting, means paying attention to the "bottom," as in bottom line.

"There are many successful companies that have websites with black backgrounds."

I dare you to provide enough current examples available on the internet today and see if they total more than 3% of the marketplace. A statement like that, without at least 100 urls posted as examples, is about as useful as a wet fart.

I didn't say a black background could not be used effectively, especially for an escort site, but when wordy editorial is part of the design, an expert designer (who truly knows his shit) will speak up and guide you accordingly.

"...which I believe was his (Steve's) only inquiry about suggestions..."

I admit to taking advantage of the slightly open door presented by Mr. Draker. Being the smart and sensitive professional that he is, Steven characterized my criticisms as "constructive." He obviously appreciates my sincere desire to help more than you. I can accept that.

"I do think that packaging and advertising matter, heavily in fact. I think we all have agreed it matters, so no need to call anyone a fool."

Let's not get defensive and take this dialogue on professionalism personally. If you read the writing carefully, nobody called any specific individual a fool. The statement could easily read "foolish businessmen" which covers a very large umbrella. If you choose to stand under that umbrella, that's your call.

"Is it me or does anyone else believe they are becoming slightly jaded by this board...I feel like I can see myself turning into a bitter middle age slightly over weight man by responding and that's not cool. Maybe I need a holiday."

Be careful of becoming bitter, Jay. Find the source and kill it (unless, of course, it's you).

In spite of a few, er...um, herpes-laden rectum openings, I find this board an absolute joy and cherish every escort who's brave enough to participate. Much is said using the word "intelligence" to describe an escort in the Review section, but the real proof of that pudding lies here in the MC. Is it any wonder why most male companions don't chat here? (Just to be fair, many are not English speaking natives. They're excused.)

Take that holiday and come back smiling. You probably deserve a break. :-)

Jay, thank you for responding to my query. I've got your point.

Just wanted to clarify that I created the website because I didn't want to respond ten times a day to the same questions "How old are you?" and "How much do you charge?". If it's too fancy or too polished I have to blame my webmaster. :p

Finally, I'd rather be "too professional" than "not enough professional".

I know that I can't win them all. And I don't want to.

Thanks for writing.

This is a question to both escorts and clients.

When a prospective client finds (let's say by accident) my escort ad in Belgium and inquires about my services I refer to my website and reviews for additional information and details. Twice I've got a reply - "you're too professional" ...

So there is my question - what is being too professional - is that a turn off ? When I'm seeking different services - massage terapist, travel agent, doctor, banker, etc. I'd love to deal with someone who is professional. Any thoughts ?

Steven, do you still get many of the "same questions" even though everything is covered adequately on your website? I have talked to a number of escorts who complain that even though it is all spelled out in their ads and website they still get countless calls and emails asking the so-called "same questions". I am sure you no doubt have had to deal with guys who enjoy cyber-stalking or telephone-stalking.

Being in (a different type of) business myself, I have my own method of dealing with those types of people. Since you have obviously been and continue to be highly successful in your field, I am curious as to how you deal with such individuals, even knowing that the biggest pest might potentially become one of your best clients?

Steve,

in my opinion , there is nothing wrong with how you handle that person, your not "TOO PROFESSIONAL" it the other way around 'HE IS A DIFFULCULT CLIENT' trust me when you get bad energy or friction in an email or even a phone call .. SKIP IT!! It not even worth the energy. Your never too professional if your trying to "PROVIDE TOP QUALITY SERVICE". Every client I see appreciates the way I go about booking appointments, they feel more relaxed and assure about meeting when it can be very nervous for the client about meeting someone for the first time. Especially if its the clients first time ever hiring an escort "NEWBIES". I get a lot of them , you have to design a way of assuring to them your the "REAL THING" especially with all the fake ads and hustlers out here.

But there are some people that are just looking for the quick fuck & suck sessions. I would not sweat it Steven when a person says your too professional, take it as a compliment, they are the one losing out on a QUALITY escort, they proberly not wanting quality so they can just move on its too many guys out here, just like there are a lot of clients. Keep it moving..... every fish that bites does not always get caught or hooked.. lol

I still get them a lot usually from guys who haven't "done their homework" which for me is to check out the website and read the reviews.

A "professional hirer" wouldn't ask those questions.

Not to reveal all the "secrets de la maison", I have my own techniques. Usually after a brief email exchange or a phone conversation I can get a feeling about the client. Call it a sixth sense.

Yes! When one deals with the public one needs to develop that sixth sense!

Also, without giving up my own secrets, I deal with the situation as discretely, tactfully, and diplomatically as possible... and as I'm sure you have experienced, every once in a while one of those nasty pests turns out to be one of your best clients... not often, but it has happened!

What makes an escort professional?

I can say that I’m RESPONSIBLE at keeping my appointments, being prompt and writing down cretin information that is needed. But what makes a professional escort??? Is it years of experience?

I don't think it is the 'years', but would think the people that stay in it for years with great success have fine tuned the things you mentioned. In your case Andre, you seem to have a natural affinity to customer service or either you have picked up on it rather quickly. You are good with the initial contact, great with the actual meeting, and your follow up is outstanding. I can see how you would easily develop a repeat-client base. Though we have only been together once, I plan to be one of those repeat clients! :9 (Now, if you figure out who I am I will be really impressed)

Hey, sure, some clients aren't Einsteins but I think that calling them "cretins" is just mean and unfair. :p

It does not take years of experience that makes you professional. What makes you professional is just how you handle yourself, the client , the appointment process, flow and feel of the session, and closing. It does not take rocket science to do it, It's all about comforting the client making the experience enjoyable and memorable even if its the only time you will see that particular client.

There's a closing? Damn, I knew I should have taken that realtor course at BMCC. :+

Yes, comforting is sometimes necessary but I'd rather get them excited. I always say that nervous energy is a good thing. :p

Who knows maybe I will start hitting the gym to grow out of that look
