A few minutes later I said may I ask the part of town you are in so I can figure out the distance in terms of driving. Oh he responded. Isn't that wonderful of him. I am well aware that this topic relates to this gentleman and it also says New York City however the man does travel and this is where I want to make a distinction. He was supposed to be coming to Detroit so I reached out to him. I have reached out to him four different times of the last couple of years but our schedules never worked out. He would always tell me that he does this on the side as a hobby because it has a real job that takes some on the road. First of all I don't believe that at all. This is the job that takes him on the road. So he told me the other day that he wanted $400 and I politely said to him I can't justify paying that kind of money for anybody for an hour. I even said don't personalize it I wouldn't do this with anybody. He wrote me back and said 400 is on the low end. Since when the hell is 400 on the low end. And I said to him maybe you should understand your demographics if you're going to travel. He told me that I should be open-minded. I have eight messages from this guy simply because all I said was that you might want to adjust your fee according to where you travel as many of the other guys do. I went on to tell him I'm not telling you how to do your business that Detroit is one of the most economically hit aspects of this country and I know myself because of retaliatory measures from Canada which I understand our electric bill is all just went up by 40%. This month. He messaged me and told me that he has plenty of clients in Detroit that pay him $400 a month. If that is so then why did he cancel and remove Detroit from his agenda when he was supposed to be here next week. I have known several guys that will charge $400 in Miami or New York but when they go to areas such as Indianapolis or Detroit or Cleveland they may adjust it to $300. Not all of them do but some of them do. Anyhow all I was saying is I'm not in paid $400 to anybody but to tell somebody who lives in Michigan that that is on the low end is completely. I was simply trying to help him to understand where I was coming from and he wasn't buying it and I'm also not under going to accept what he is coming from. I woke up this morning to six more messages from him and I could not respond because he blocked me. He was telling me I have to have an open mind. I personally believe at this point that I hit him with the truth that he doesn't want to accept which is there are people who in this county are really hurting and are going to be cautious with what they spend. I think he knows that but is wanting to pretend otherwise.

I sorta take his side in this.  It is HIS business model that he was telling you.  The fact that you don't agree with it and don't want to pay it does not make it or him wrong or bad or ignorant.  You continually try to "make him understand" which is tantamount to saying he is ignorant and you are smarter.  I don't think any provider is obliged to "buy into" your perspective or change their rates because of your opinion about the economy, the geography, the activities, or any other factor.  If he wants to negotiate, bonus...otherwise..move on.    Could be that you don't understand that he does have a real job (that you don't believe in) and this work merely provides "Mad Money" for him on the side.  There are a number of escorts that I have hired over the years that are in this exact situation.

Nice try and you're looking for an argument and it's not going to happen. I don't care who agrees with you or who doesn't. Smart business people will adjust some of their pricing based on the demographics of a certain local. This is why studies are done. Good day to you I wish you well. I personally wouldn't recommend. I spent the $400 for an hour and he was distracted doing his main job that keeps him on the road, sales.
At first I thought he was talking about his work and how this is a side gig to make small talk, but he kept going on and on about it during our session and it was a turn off and distracting.
Worse of all, he asked for my contacts so he could meet his quota for the month.
He is hot though, but that time left a really bad impression. $400 down the pooper.

I had a similar experience to Ingress. I had heard good things about this provider from a long time ago and was eager to meet him but sadly it was not an ideal connection.
