Escort Sites "using" Escorts' Pics

I was recently helping a newbie escort with listing sites, and we noticed that several free-to-list sites have fine print which discloses that when the escort sends his pics, the site owns them (well, their set) and is free to merchandise them.

 

I'm curious - how do escorts feel about such terms? Is it worth it to get a free listing? :o

Although, you'd be hard-pressed to find any court out there who would hear such a case if things got legal and webmasters or escorts started throwing around words like 'litigation' regarding said images.

 

For a webmaster to threaten to sue over images would mean they would have to practically admit to pandering. For an escort, it might mean even bigger trouble as someone who peddles within the sex trade. Two situations definitely considered unsavory in terms of comfort.

 

Rule of thumb (escort & otherwise): Don't upload any images onto the web that you don't want altered, downloaded, bogusly claimed as someone else or defaced.

 

The www is a huge space with a bitch of a memory... Do consider what you're putting out there.

It's not just on the web. As of a couple of years ago, and I doubt if it's changed, putting a picture on your ad in Unzipped involved signing a release form which included allowing them to reuse your picture even on advertising for products without remuneration and even if it would be a use designed to cause you to be a laughing stock.

I have already seen some regular modeling sites doing the same thing.
