Odd circumstances, what to do?

For the last three weeks or so, I've been traveling. (Didja miss me?) I planned to cap off this burst of travel meeting an escort in another city. (Much nearer his home turf than mine, btw.) This is like our third attempt to schedule getting together.

 

And now the conundrum: I haven't heard a peep from this gentleman for just over a month. I sent an e-mail upon returning home asking for a confirmation by e-mail, phone or whatever of our upcoming appointment. No response at all, so far. At this point, it is to late to cancel the trip. The boutique hotel has a long cancelation policy, I have non-refundable airline tickets, etc. I should point out that I'm flying to him, not the reverse. Since I left the guy an e-mail on Sunday, I've seen various indications this person has been online, but have received no response.

 

Before meeting any escort, I always like to chat them up a bit via telephone first. I've asked for that in my e-mails to the escort who said he'd call, but hasn't. In fairness, if he's tried my home number the last few weeks, I'd have been gone. Caller ID showed several unidentified or anonymous calls in the previous couple weeks, but no voicemail from the escort. There have also been 2-3 restricted calls to my mobile, again, no voicemail. He doesn't know my living situation, so might not have felt comfortable leaving a voicemail. No UFO calls to either number since my e-mail was sent. I have no phone number for the escort. At least one e-mail of some importance has gone astray in the last month, so I am open to that possibility, albeit remote, in this case. (E-mail goes to my own domain, mail is received on a well maintained e-mail server, operated for me by a friend who is a very experienced sysadmin. Not using hotmail, etc.)

 

All my e-mails and prior communications with this guy have been pleasant, cordial and totally appropriate. Something in my inner self is telling me I'm about to be stood up. I don't want this to be a self-fulfilling prophecy. And, admittedly, I can be a bit of a worrier, sometimes wrongly. Therefore, I have made this e-mail deliberately vague, so even the escort would not easily recognize himself should he read this. He does not know my handle here.

 

At this point, I've decided to hop on the plane as planned. No other real choice. At a minimum, I'm disappointed in the level of pre-appointment customer service. If I were the escort, I think I'd want to verify the appointment too.

 

Thoughts, opinions or whatever, please. Did I screw up? I think my expectations are well within the norm. This is certainly not the first time I've hired. Would love to hear from a few of you as to what I might have done wrong, handled differently, etc. The situation unfolding here is certainly unique in my experience. Not at all what I'd expect.

 

It is not my intent to embarass anyone, harm reputations or whatever. This is just a unique situation in my experience, and I'm definitely puzzled.

In this situation, I would start making arrangements with a second choice escort in the same area. I would not leave it till the last moment because you are more likely to come up dry (unless the place is New York or some other large center where there are planty of escorts to substitute). It may not be what you had your heart set on but hey, life's short!

Hey EBG, I totally agree with Luv2Play. It sounds like its high time to look for another escort in the area to which you are going to be traveling. Unless you are headed to Kansas, or some other equally out of the way place, there must be other workin' bois in the area which will fit your fancy. Don't let your original guy be a no show and put a big damper on your trip.

Having grown up in Kansas, and having spent the last two weeks there, I did have one rather shocking escort related development while in KS. Turns out a former escort, reviewed on this site, works at the nursing home where my mom now lives. And now, everyone join me in singing "It's a Small World After All".

 

Anyway, the escort in question surfaced this afternoon. Said he'd been traveling, and was sorry to let things get so close to the wire. Got his mobile, and have left him a message.

 

Looks like things are set now. Was definitely a bit nervous there. Now appears that everything is a go.
