Chroma Ancient Sculpture in Color

Now at the Metropolitan Museum in NYC. The ancient Greeks and Romans lived in a much more colorful world than people realized. Thanks to scientific research on ancient statues we now know that all those white marble statues and even the bronze ones were painted in bright realistic colors.

Hmm.

I knew much of ancient architecture was painted ( rendering the beauty of the subtle shadow play invisible ). Rather sad to know some of the beautiful sculpture was also originally colorful and not as elegant as the raw beauty of shape and shadow
