I was wondering how you escorts feel about your pictures. How often do you update them. For instance, if you shave your head, but the pics show hair, is that OK? Ditto for smooth bodies on pics, while you may not stay so smooth regularly? Ditto for worked out athletic bodies versus average body types and vise versa? I was wondering how far off the picture has to be before an escort feels it is appropriate to change it? This is not a complaint, just an honest question.

Personally, i try to change both my picture sets and avatar images every month or so~ either adding newer images or just replacing them altogether. Escorts should always be image concious when dealing with photos, especially if you're prone to changing your look often.

 

Escorts have to remember we're selling our 'look' just as much as we're selling ourselves and there have been way too many incidents of client reviews saying the 'escort didn't look anything like his picture.' IMO, that would make that particular guy a 'bait and switcher' and not much of an escort at that.

 

Why would a client want to pay for something misrepresented? If i was substituted a Sanyo for a Sony, you can bet i'd find the reciept and take it back immediately.

My webmaster is frantically working on some new stuff for me so i am able to update my journal daily and also change things around on the main page when needed. It doesn't help that he's going through a little tiff with his programmer, so it's all adding to the overall length of time.

 

This just goes to show you that i need to learn more about programs like DreamWeaver and FrontPage. I'm such an illiterate

There's another reason apart from truth in advertising for escorts to frequently update their pics. I try to get a new pic up on my HooBoy reviews every month, which always creates a huge spike in hits to my site for a good couple days or so -- which means I also have more new pics up at the site waiting for all those new eyeballs.

 

I tend to be a little lazier about frequently updating pics used on sites like Rentboy or my ad in the Bay Area Reporter or my avatar images. That I only tend to update when I take an unusually good picture. For instance, the pic on my avatar here was taken a few months ago and I've kept it around because as pics of me go that's a tough one to improve on. :7 But I should probably try stepping up the rotation anyway and see what effect that has on business. Which brings me to another point -- frequently updating your pics gives you a type of ongoing market research -- do people hire you more when you're posting pics of your ass? Or pics of you flexing, jacking off, in briefs, in jockstraps, etc.?

 

Another reaons to have new pics up on your website as frequently as possible is that past, present and future clients will get into the habit of visiting your site frequently if they know there's a good chance they'll see something new. I've had months, especially lately in this economy, in which other local escorts were telling me business was slow, but for me it was surprisingly stable because I had quite a few new clients who told me they'd been visiting my site for months and finally decided to give me a try. I was glad I'd been giving them a reason to keep coming back.

I hate having my picture taken. I was victimized by an overzealous Jewish snap-happy mother with an SLR & an endless supply of 35mm film, who insisted on recording every moment of "adorable Rick's" life (including those awkward years when Rick's nose was growing faster than the rest of his face; thankfully the rest caught up). I'm still trying to overcome that aversion to cameras but everytime Derek & I attempt to take new pics, it ends up in a fight (and then a fuck). It has been discussed elsewhere and in books that updating your photographs is always a good way to at minimum get attention from prospective clients.

 

One thing to keep in mind is that certain of the escort sites maintain full control over the updating of ones pictures. Some sites do not even permit this as an on line process and you must submit photographs to the site for approval, processing and uploading.

 

One site which does permit this and which is well known to clients is AmericanMale.net; Gay Dar also has a simple process for uploading update photographs by users, which is a reason I use that site myself.

 

I agree with Benjamin Nichols that we, the escorts, should be required to provide updated photographs. While certain body parts may not change a great deal and an escort's over all appearance may not be different, a recent and accurate representation of our appearance is not only a more ethical business practice, but one to which a client is reasonable entitled.
