ID.me is alright.  I would have preferred login.gov, but that’s more ideologically driven - public versus private services.

The verification sign-up can take some time so better to sign up with Id.me ahead of time before linking the accounts.

As always establish multiple factors for additional verification in case you lose one of your authentication devices.

Starting at the end of October you have to register with ID.me to access Treasury Direct. Causing quite a stir:

TreasuryDirect is launching a controversial login system | Treasury Inflation-Protected Securities

I've been using ID for a long time now and it's pretty straightforward

Just wondering how that is going to work if you have two Treasury Direct logins.   I have one for my personal account and one for my trust account.

Interesting article that was posted on tips watch today. Don't die with i bonds as your family could have a lot of trouble redeeming them.

Wise advice: ‘Don’t die with I Bonds’ | Treasury Inflation-Protected Securities

It makes absolutely no sense to hold I Bonds until death. The reason? Your surviving beneficiaries or estate will face months, maybe even years, of delays in distributing the account assets. Plus they may have to deal with multiple forms (long processing times) and required medallion signature guarantees (nearly impossible to get at most banks).
