ID.me is alright.  I would have preferred login.gov, but that’s more ideologically driven - public versus private services.  
 

The verification sign-up can take some time so better to sign up with Id.me ahead of time before linking the accounts. 
 

As always establish multiple factors for additional verification in case you lose one of your authentication devices.
