I’m the type of guy that still “gloves up” when it comes to intercourse.  I grew up in the era when HIV was a death sentence.  I know this topic has come up before, as other threads had it mentioned there.   However, when I visited an escort the other day at his house, he brought it up to me, and showed me this site.  So I looked into it more out of curiosity.

The site directs you to enter your usual details, and also has you click answers to a questionnaire.  If you have insurance, you also enter that information in, as well as a copy of the front and back of the card.  Next, a doctor will video call you, as required in California it says.  The site will mail out a HIV test kit to make sure you already don’t have HIV.  It sounds like whether you have insurance or not, it’s absolutely free, and it can all be done from home.

Has anyone else used this service, and has anyone else had any side effects from using PREP?

Heymistr provides Descovy (not Truvada).  A few guys I talked to reported slight upset stomach for a day or two when they started but it settled down and they are all still on Descovy.  It is quite convenient to get your meds and your quarterly testing kit delivered to your door.

Do you have any idea of the differences between Descovy & Truvada, side-effects, effectiveness of each one versus the other, etc?

I just started Prep a few months ago and did a lot of reading online about the Truvada vs. Descovy topic prior to seeing my doctor...the below site has a nice side-by-side comparison i liked:

ultimately I took my doc's advice on which to use (he said start with Truvada and switch to Descovy if there are any side effects). Descovy is newer and there isn't a generic yet, so that might affect prescribing or insurance.

If your insurance does not cover Descovy or you dont have insurance, heymistr will apply for a co pay coupon card from Gilead so it will still cost you nothing.  Generic availablity or your insurance/lack of insurance should not impact the cost.
