I knew I would be in NYC in early March and decided to check out the listings in review section. I picked one who, from all of his reviews, appealed to me. I e-mailed him, giving him a description of myself, my tastes, and he replied stating that he would be glad to meet with me but that we should first talk by telephone. He gave me a good time to call. Unfortunately, I was away at that time and unable to call him. I emailed him this and he replied that it was fine to call him anytime (if not at home, leave message on voice mail and he would return call). Two weeks went by (I was nursing a bad cold) and finally, last Saturday, called and left message on his voice mail. When no reply by Sun, I e-mailed him, stating that I had called him. Still no reply so... today I checked status of my e-mail (sent via AOL which allows you to do this) and found that my e-mail had been deleted (without him reading it first). Since he chose to delete my email and has not returned my call, CAN I ASSUME that he doesn't want to get together? Should I try again or just move on to someone else? NYC is full of wonderful escorts so his refusing to reply to me is a problem....if not interested in meeting with me (for whatever reason) shouldn't he just tell me or at least state that he has prior commitments and cannot meet with me. THIS GUY SUPPOSEDLY has a great reputation. At the same time, I don't want to beat a dead horse. Suggestions.

Give him another chance and email him again. The amount of spam email on aol can be overwhelming, and it's entirely possible he deleted your email by mistake. Make sure your subject line clearly states that it's concerning his escort services.

I'm not an escort, so maybe I'm not supposed to answer this. But if it were me, AND if you really like the idea of getting together with this particular guy, send him another e-mail. I've had several cases where an e-mail got skipped over or lost or deleted by accident. Be sure to include a Subject line that will be individual and not look like spam. Maybe something like "Escort--Second Letter" or something like that.

As you said, NYC is full of wonderful guys. So I'd encourage this one to be upfront about it if he doesn't want to see you—better to get it out of the way than have a half-hearted encounter. And then if he'd really rather not, pick out another and start working on setting that up.

Best of luck, hope you have a great time,

woodli

Your suggestions of a second email did occur to me BUT: I did state "your services as an escort" in subject line AND I did leave a message on his voice mail. I thought that he might have been away for the weekend and had not listened to his messages BUT my email was deleted so SOMEONE MUST BE DOING IT and I strongly suspect it is him.

Guess the verdict is try again! I recently found an email that I can't believe I missed in my hotmail account, all caught up in spam. Also if you are not up to speed with your account and you go over your storage it will delete emails, at least with Hotmail...

Good luck and hopefully you can connect this time.

E-mail is just not the best way to meet someone. Unlike a phone or an answering machine, most of us aren't always in a position to access it. Even with constantly checking on my e-mail throughout the day, I find that it takes a week or two to line up most appointments that are requested via e-mail.

I try to personalize the subject, but with so much spam it's hard to tell which is real and which isn't! (Am the only one that gets offers on AOL to see both Naked Shower Boys and Hot Teen Pussy?)

For months and months, I only got Hot Teenage Girls With Farm Animals. It took many moons, so to speak, for some of the spammers to cotton to the idea that I like men.

Has it occured to you that, whatever the reason, it didn't make you look serious about matters when you asked how to get ahold of him, he told you, and then there was a two week wait before anything happened. I would suggest that next time you send such a person an email stating that you are sick, it hurts to talk and you will call as soon as you feel better. Escorts are in a position where we often get people asking for information and when it isn't used we have to be at least as paranoid as the next guy (who probably wouldn't face jail time just for giving out info) as to what is being done with that information. So, a two week gap might have thrown a flag on the play and given you one skittish mustang on your hands, horse-whisperer.

I personally like it much better when someone contacts me by phone. I tend to OD on the computer once in a while and try to take a bit of a hiatus from it. My phone is pretty much joined to my hip and I'm usually pretty good about answering it, except for those few hours a week when its turned off. }> I'm also usually much quicker about answering voicemail than emails ; just a little something about a guys voice that adds a sense of urgency. grrrr...

"see Richard Simmons and a goat"

I cannot, at this moment, think of something that is more scarey than that.

The Richard Simmons infomercials that took place in grocery stores are probably what gave me my phobia of grocery stores.

Richard Simmons = BIG GOAT

Do we have to take him on our side (the gay side)...maybe we can get Billy Zane instead.

Hey there,

Sorry to pipe in but my favorite AOL spam came titled "SEE SHEILA WITH A GOAT!"

Kills me

Now around our place--when my BF hates someone on TV, in the news or politics, they get the "with a goat" seal of disapproval.

See Star Jones with a goat

See Pat Robertson's Mom with a goat

See Richard Simmons with a goat.

Headline from last MIT indpendently run student newspaper circa 79-80... (my older brother must have told me about this :-) )

"Ed King Blows Dead Goats"

King was the sitting conservative democratic governor who unseated the Duke after one term and took a position with which the editorial board obviously differed.

:D
