I found this link for cheap NYC hotels in my bookmarks.I'm not sure where it came from.It may have been from this forum. But I was looking at room prices at the different hotels and saw that you could actually get a room for tonight for example for 139.00,159.00,179.00 which nowadays seems reasonable for New york City.

Anyways I just posted it as I thought it might come in handy for someone. Here's the link:

I'm surprised that they don't mention that the Colonial House Inn on W.22nd is basically gay, unless things have changed from the days when I used to stay there.

New York hotel prices are coming down thanks to the economic crisis. I stayed at the Colonial House for several days many years ago. The first night was problematic as we had to share the room...with about a trillion cockroaches. After some problems, they moved us upstairs where there were no intruders. It's a little creepy staying somewhere where the front desk is behind a glass protector...maybe they've removed that since those days.

The first few times I stayed at Colonial House in the early 1980s, it was a true b&b with a single phone in the hall for guest use; in those days before cell phones, it meant I had to make calls to escorts that anyone in the place could overhear, but since the owners and all the guests were gay, it wasn't too bad. One time I chatted with the guy serving breakfast, and discovered he was housesitting in a NYC apartment owned by a friend of mine who was working in India--small world! When I stayed there again in the 90s, there were phones in the rooms, and the whole place seemed to have gone a bit more upscale, but it was never the kind of place that I would have expected to see recommended in New York Magazine.

This week I saw a real estate ad for a Chelsea b&b that's up for sale. It may have been the Colonial.'Twas in the NYTimes.

I noticed the trend just around Thanksgiving when I could get a four star hotel under $200. A bargain.

NYC, here I come :-)

I'm hoping hotel prices keep falling.Even though I live only 40 mins by train to midtown Manhattan I used to love getting a hotel room in the city for the weekend but stopped doing it when prices went so high.

LI..Don't count on it! The Mayor is looking to Increase the Hotel Tax due to the Financial mess! So you know what that means.

Sticking to the 200 an Hr Guys vs 250 an Hr Rate Quoter's... will at least make up for the Hotel Rates going up!

Now that's the way we Born New Yorker's Survive during Hard Time's! ;-)
