SF Eagle Bar Granted Landmark Status

It's one of the oldest leather bars around, and now the gay community can see it being given landmark status by the San Francisco Board of Supervisors.

This seems kind of stupid. 

What exactly happened here that was so culturally important?
I mean other than that epic blow job I got in the bathroom in 1993.

We shouldn’t confuse nostalgia with historically significant.

”Landmark status" is usually the death knell of the commercial value
of a piece of property. Do we really need a “SF Eagle Bar Museum”?

I heard on our local cable "Spectrum News" today that the bar "Oil Can Harry's" was designated a "Historic Cultural Monument" yesterday. I used to go there for the strip shows when I was in college. It's closed now, but it would be equally convenient distance-wise from my house compared with WeHo clubs, with easier parking. I guess it was a victim of the pandemic.
