I liked Testosterone but it's not a great movie (and Logo butchered it when it broadcasted it). But Okie is spot on about Burnt Money, another Argentinian movie. It is very, very erotic on many levels - WHAT AN ENDING.

Kevin Slater, I liked your list but you gotta see Burnt Money. I saw Mysterious Skin at Film Forum in "mixed company" and while it was a very moving film, it creeped out everyone including the straights.

I also liked the Spanish film Bear Cub although it is cute rather than erotic.

Oh I've seen it. I thought it was fine, but not so great as to recommend. I felt like it was a gay-themed film only in the previews, I sorta missed that angle in most of the film itself. Not that that takes away from the film, it just didn't excite me as much as it did the other posters here.

I love Mysterious Skin. Like Happiness, it's a fucked up film. And that's a good thing.

I'm surprised to see that no one has mentioned "Boys In The Band" (unless I missed the post).

I was too young to see it when it was first released. Although it seems somewhat dated today, I think it is probably an accurate portrayal of gay life in the early '70s and I suspect one of the first gay movies to play in theaters to a largely hetero audience.

Perhaps Midnight Cowboy ('69) would take the title of first.

I agree with you in terms of its being perhaps dated now, and as you stated, this film did capture the essence of gay life in the early 70s.

Two nights ago I viewed a recently released film: BEFORE I FORGET. I would highly recommend it, as I found it valid and thought-provoking in many parts.

Also, I've viewed almost all gay related dvds from Netflix during the past four years, and would suggest that instead of making a purchase of a particular film-- rent it from NF, and if you think you'd like it to be part of your collection, then purchase.

Again, guys, ...just a suggestion! :-)

Lots of great films already mentioned, although - generally - I'd be wary of Amazon's "recommendations" ... which tend to be rather out of left field.

And, if you are looking to stock up on DVDs now, you might want to check out Deep Discount DVD's annual SALE, now through November 23rd. You can get 25% OFF any DVD (including BlueRay) in stock (no back orders or advance orders), just by using any of these sale codes at checkout: DVDTALK, USATODAY, NYTIMES, SUPERSALE, PRICESEARCH, SUMMERSALE, YAHOO, ESPN, LATIMES, XM, DEEP Each code can be used only once by each buyer.

I've used them many times, and they are a reliable, service-oriented

seller. Their prices INCLUDE regular shipping within the USA.

Lately, their prices are not always the lowest (I have found better

buys at times at Amazon or -on the stuff they release- TLAVideo), but

the 25 OFF is bound to give them an advantage.

Hi, I found "Beautiful Thing" to be entertaining. I've seen "Gone, But Not Forgotten," but I didn't find it memorable (no pun intended--LOL).

Here are some of my favorites—apologies if I’ve repeated any previous suggestions:

“Making Love,” with Michael Ontkean and Harry Hamlin (One of my all-time favorites, considering its release year (1982))

“A Home at the End of the World,” with Colin Farrell

“Mambo Italiano”

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0330602/

“The Sum of Us,” with Russell Crowe

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0111309/

“The 24th Day,” with James Marsden

“Latter Days,” with Wes Ramsey

RE: Some gay-themed movies?

I love "Latter Days" even if I find the lead character -- who has the hottest body around -- unbelievable since he never ever works out and you don't realize how smokin' he is until he takes his shirt off and reveals that truly amazing physique. But do I care? No, I love his character ... the movie is cliche-ridden but these things always are ... still like the film.

I also liked "Broken Hearts Club" -- I think that's the title -- from a few years back.
