I have been COVID vaccinated - both shots. I have plans to travel to Sao Paulo and Rio in May.

My intention of course is to sample the local wares.....especially those found at the escort saunas.

So.....would you go or would you cancel - given my situation....?

I'm concerned that my Moderna vaccination won't be adequate given the virus variants that are occurring in Brasil.

Your thoughts are appreciated gentlemen.

Thank you.

I have not been to Brazil, but expect it may not be quite as enjoyable to travel during the pandemic. Even if your vaccine protects you against the variants, it may be wiser to wait until things are better controlled there.

I suggest you listen to this broadcast from MD in Brazil.

Currently, Brazil, especially the two cities of your desired travel, have a very, very, very high incidence of COVID. A curfew is on in each of these two cities. My advice to you will be to postpone until the latter part of 2021, or go next year when a modicum of normalcy has occurred.

Brazil is one of my most favorite countries, and when it comes to cities, Rio and Salvador (Bahia) are my two favorite ones. I've been fortunate to have traveled to "Mother Brazil" on eleven different occasions, exploring throughout this largest of countries in South America.

For me, it isn't just the risk of getting COVID, it's the poor hospital facilities that you would then need to deal with. They are overwhelmed and they weren't that good to start with. I know, I ended two sentences with a preposition. Sorry.

Obrigado. Looks like I need to cancel. Sigh.

I have been living in the US for over 7 years but I am from Brazil and my family lives there. My advice is: CANCEL your trip. Things are ugly there right now. Wait until most of the Brazilian population is vaccinated, which it probably won't happen until at the end of the year.

Thank goodness for an honest answer!

I agree with all the others. It's not a good time to travel outside of one's home country right now. Way too many potential problems given the COVID situation : Potential curfews, lots of things not being open, generally depressing environment in places where COVID is rampant, testing problems when trying to return home, etc. It's just not worth it right now. Perhaps things will look better in 3-4 months as more people are vaccinated.
