Okay, I always love culinary sparring with my Wisconsin and Iowa "relatives." Here's what my Iowa-born farmer father taught me about how to buy and care for Corn on The Cob:

 

First, find the freshest picked corn (the earliest in the morning you can find on the local "corn truck.") Pull the husks down on a few ears - you want to select the ears which have the SMALLEST, and lightest kernels on the cobs. Wrap your purchased cobs in wet paper towels and refrigerate them until ready to be cooked.

 

Husk the cobs, removing all the silk, and place them in a pot of ice water. Add 2 tbsp sugar. DO NOT, under any circumstances, add salt (it toughens the corn).

 

Cover the pot and bring to a boil, covered. When the water is boiling, turn off the heat and let sit covered for about 30 minutes.

 

Drain the corn on paper towels and lather with butter and salt. (There are TONS of other seasoning options, but remember to follow the cooking instructions and you'll do fine.

A nice thing about a message board is that one can simply push the "back" button if a post begins to upset them. Likewise, a thread that is personally directed can be left unread.

 

Most email servers have the option of blocking mail from unwanted senders. One can delete any email at any time: Before, during, or after reading.

 

Life is much easier for me when I put some things (and people) on "ignore". The world is full of cool people and, alas, more than a few jerks. When I get pulled into responding to and/or becoming upset by the nastiness of a jerk, ultimately I'm at fault for letting myself get pulled in. My two best shields are "delete" and "ignore".
