Yes it is really me...took a break for a while (3 or 4 years). I still see some familiar names tho Rick, Lucky etc..

As some of you may remember,I was a huge fan of dance music especially old disco.. think Ross'The Boss, Patty Brooks, Gloria Gaynor(Casanova Brown), Sylvestor, Voyage, Cerrone, Grace Jones, Garys Gang, Thelma Houston, The Ritchie Family, Salsoul and so many others. I have all of the original 12inch singles and have begun converting them over to music files for my I Pod. They still sound awesome.

Recently my friends have been comming back from the clubs raving that our "Disco Queen" has done it again. Her new song is a huge hit in the clubs and I can't wait to get back out on the floor to show her some love.. Her new smash(#1 on Billboards Club Play currently) is called "I'm A Fire" and guys and gals ..it is hottt. It harkens back to the songs of old.

For those of you who maybe a little long in the tooth like I ;-), and remember the great disco songs ,in their prime, when they were originally played in the clubs first in their extended forms and we owned them for a while. Then when they started to get old in the clubs the record companies would edit them down from 9min to 3.5min for radio. By then we found another hit.. I still remember the day when one of my friends called me the next day after a long night out that everyone was raving in the clubs about a new song by Diana Ross..it was Upside Down. We owned it for a few weeks before the pop stations got a hold of it and then destroyed it. That happened with quite a few huge club hits. The difference now is that it is in reverse.. a huge 4 min song is extended and remixed and for the clubs and its just not the same. I do give Mariah some credit as she is one of a very few artists who will actually re-sing her extended club hits and even Madge did it a few times.

Thanks for the YouTube links.

Welcome back, Godiva! Thanks for the Diana clip. I've been listening to her all day, as they've just released a 2-CD set of never-before-released Supremes songs, like "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction" and "MacArthur Park." It's a real Diana-fest in our home today.

There are a lot of blogs out there with free downloads of old disco. Check this one out: http://discodelivery.blogspot.com/

Godiva,

I wasn't a DJ, but I dated one :)

Unfortunately, almost all of my albums were lost during a move. The few remaining ones are gathering dust in a closet 2200 miles away.

The Cher clip would be nostalgic if I didn't have "The very best of Cher" in my car CD player. (Hey, it's pretty good road music!)

In fact, I just bought a new copy because the SoCal sun kinda warped the old one.

"Take me ^%*%^$ dark lady *&%^ one by one &*^% believe in magic *&^&% babe, I got *&&^% words are like weapons *&*%^^$% babe."

It got confusing.
