During what was a golden age for newspapers, and fortunate to live in a city that was blessed with one of the best, I remember the comic pages were a must read section, and Family Circus always held top position.

I was at a convention once during grad school where Bil Keane the creator of Family Circus was brought in by the makers of some product. He was handing out Family Circus pre-printed drawings and signing them. I had it for years. But it's long lost now.

Phoenix/Scottsdale residents and snowbirds may know of the longtime downtown Scottsdale ice cream/lunch institution, the Sugar Bowl.......Bil Keane, who lived in the area for decades before his death, was good friends with the owning family and would occasionally incorporate the Sugar Bowl in his comics.......by the way, Bil Keane has only one "l" in his first name because, according to him, his father kicked the "l" out of him as a child....
