In Las Vegas, the Wynn and MGM casino hotels have all closed temporarily. No word yet on Caesars and other casinos on the Strip. The Strip casinos have never closed before, not for 9/11, the Great Recession, or any other reason. I don't think the Fremont Street casinos even closed for the World Wars (the Strip casinos were all built after WWII).

Dallas: Eateries, bars, clubs, theaters, gyms, closed-confined spaces... As of midnight tonight, all closed until further notice.

It's the cities who are saying 'we haven't had a reported case and are fine with using wipes on doorknobs' that are the problem. They think it won't happen to them. It will. That's how a pandemic works.

We need to slow people down now.

George Washington University in DC has told the students not to come back after spring break, the rest of the semester will be taught online. And they've cancelled graduation. The Naval Academy hasn't gone that far yet, but my son will be home for an extra two weeks and they've hinted graduation may not happen.

My older son's girlfriend who's at GW Law says the rumor is that everyone has to leaved the dorms because they may be needed for overflow of the hospital.

I stopped going to the gym 2 weeks ago. It'll be interesting to see if my monthly payment is automatically deducted from my account depending on how long they're closed.

If you didn't put a freeze on it, they can (contractually) still bill you.

Be proactive. Never wait for someone else to make the first move, especially when it comes to your money ;)

Here at our "active adult" community, there is a small gym in the community center, and there are rarely more than one or two people in it at any one time. I went to it last Friday, and there were eight people! I'm sure they were trying to avoid the dangers of the commercial gyms they usually go to, but there was less social distancing here than at World Gym. My spouse usually uses the treadmill and stationary bike at the gym here, but now it feels so crowded that he is going to stay away and just take long walks instead.
