LOU ZIVKOVICH (b. 1939), a one-time defensive end for the Calgary Stampeders of the Canadian Football League, posed for PLAYGIRL in the 1970s.

The high school in California where Zivkovich then worked as a phys ed teacher fired him, charging that posing for nude images demonstrated that he was not a proper role model. Students and fellow teachers came to his defense, and a state appeals panel subsequently admonished Zivkovich for a "mistake in judgment," but ruled in March 1975 that he could not be fired.

Tony Sansone, c. 1923 - In 1929, photographer Edwin F. Townsend discovered the Italian-American model and actor Anthony “Tony” Sansone, during a stage production of David Belasco. Townsend published two small books of his photographic work with Sansone; Classics Modern (1932) and Rhythm (1935).
