In the NYTimes of 2/20 there’s an article by Christopher Corwin praising the talent of Ann Hallenberg, a Swedish mezzo soprano who will be making a rare US appearance in NYC this coming week. In the article Corwin sites a number of unique recording she’s made mainly of baroque music. I subscribe to the classical music streaming app IDAGIO. On a whim I checked the site and most of the sited recordings were there. Rossini wrote Guillaume Tell for the stage in Paris. When I asked noted Rossini scholar @whipped guy for a recommended recording sure enough IDAGIO had it. When I sought a recording of Messiaen’s Celestial Banquet. IDAGIO has a dozen or more including one played by Messiaen himself. I can’t commend this service more highly.
