Greg, I wonder if you'll rethink that decision when you get daily emails from them letting you know you have client email being held until you pay your bill. I hear ya about the shoddy practices, but the fact is, they drive a hell of a lot of traffic.

My roomie, DJ, tells me it's $29.95/month for a "regular" listing and $39.95 for a "Premium" listing.

I am going to cancel my account with them I will not support a site with shoddy billing practices. As for what I payed it was $79.95 a month.

Here's the link to their page which discusses monthly charges. Looks like their range, depending upon "service," is from $29.95 to $89.95. I'm not sure what any listing status above "basic" buys you. I know DJ gets most of his traffic from this site and he has always had only a "basic" listing.

This is for the working guys as a warning about the above site. If you chose to cancel your membership please make sure to get it in writing (email) that it has went through. I canceled my December payment in November and I was billed not once but twice!x( Luckily I have a good relationship with my bank and they are reversing the charge (twice now) and it is marked as an unauthorized charge on my card. I have to say that I will NEVER do business with this company again! Their lack of having a decent system set up for those that want to stop the monthly billing and then re billing has left a very unpleasant taste in my mouth. So moral of the story get the shit in writing. Lesson learned on my side for sure.

Anton you are very right about everything. I am thinking of renewing my ad on Rent Boy but am waiting to get more details on their different levels. I've completely forgotten which each one offers. I'd just mostly use it for when I am on the road.

I had this and other unfavorable adventures with Rentboy~ Difference being that with Rentboy, I never was able to get my money back and never able to update or post my ad.

Wait till you try Rentboy... over $100 for your home listing, (basic ad and not talking about even a premium spot), and then if you travel... you pay another $100 or $200 for EVERY city you travel to that you post in! You can not list your travel cities and dates for free there... you have to pay an entire months ad rent for each city you list in!!! Men4rentnow let's you list up to three extra travel Cities for free! It's really easy to update your ad as well on Men4rentnow.

Thanks for the info. I just emailed them about travel info since I didn't see that on the site. Of coursethere are ways around it I am sure. But back to m4r. When a company I have told to stop charging me goes and charges me not once but twice all bets are off. I won't do biz with them again. M4r is not the only site out there and if it means I have to work a little bit harder to let people know I am traveling to their cities I'm ok with that. Nothing wrong with having to do a little more leg work in my book.

Okay! When You are done with Rentboy... compare the over all cost and Client response and tell me how Men4rent and Rentboy compare... If you pay less on rentboy and make more confirmed contacts thru Rentboy then Men4rent I will forward you both up to the 49$ I pay Men4rent to pay for your ads on Rentboy. You HAVE to substantiate you claim though... I am on at least ten different sites nationally and internationally, combined... not all are on board in BOTH the Client and Escort interests...

I think Anton does not advertise per say except for Daddy's... You tell me you guys... How has Rentboy worked for you? Honestly?

Aha, so that's why I have been emailing a certain escort in Florida for the second year and getting no reply.

 

That's pretty sucky. They really should delete non-active escorts.

They can't delete the ads because that would drop at least half the ads would be my guess. And Tyger for me m4r was only ok for me over all but that wasn't my op. My issue with them was they were trying to bill me after I told them to stop and then rebilled me again a week later. Be it them or ccbill I don't care, don't eff with my money. Grrrrr!!!!

I understand that your post was directed at your fellow escorts, but I thought I would take a moment to respond from the point of view of a client and that of a 20 year veteran of the financial services industry.

 

First, the banker's view:

 

If you set up a recurring credit card billing program with any biller, including men4rentnow, and you cancel your subscription per their stated policy and procedures they are not to continue charging you for your service. If they do, you have the right to contact your credit card issuer and dispute the charge. Some issuers will ask that you try to work the issue out with the biller, others just make you sign the affidavit of unauthorized use (or whatever they call it) and investigate the charges themselves.

 

Now, the client's view:

 

Quite frankly, Rentboy is a hideous site. It takes forever to load a page, their search capabilities are pretty poor, and their servers are constantly overloaded (which probably explains the slow response time). I usually give up on them and check men4rentnow or maleescortreview. I agree that men4rentnow's e-mail capabilities are pretty poor, but at least I can find listings. When I try to use Rentboy I expect to hear Carly Simon singing in the background.

Thanks for the banking advice. I did contact the bank after m4r and the bank reversed the second charge, the first one m4r refunded. For now this trip to Chicago I'm not needing either service because I already have almost half the days booked. But we'll see about this spring and summer when I hit the road.

Customer perspective - I use Rentboy almost exclusively and find it works quite well. I haven't experienced slowness in loading -- in fact, the site seems pretty responsive -- and I find the search engine works great. The ability to find only guys who have their computers signed on is terrific, as it means I don't waste time trying to contact guys with obsolete ads or who are not available.

 

I've browsed through m4rentnow from time to time, but rarely tried to contact anybody through it. Too many of the listings have no phone number, and I'm not interested in sending an email to a service. Furthermore, when I try to do a geographical search, I find a lot of the guys who turn up are not in the city I'm searching; most of them usually list my city as a place they are willing to travel to, but they are actually quite far away.

 

I think this site is the best place to post travel information. I always check out that board to see who might be coming to town.
