Theories about "visitor in the area only for a short time" when the designated home city stays the same for months?

Just curious if anyone may have encountered wording in an ad along the lines of "visitor in the area only for a short time," and yet the purported location of the ad remains unchanged for months with no indication of any travel cities at all? Here is a prime example and is the ad which has prompted my question:

https://rent.men/MikeLogan

I always routinely flew right past the above ad because I'm MUCH more interested in finding a regular than a one-and-done or very infrequent occurrence. Nevertheless, upon viewing the pics for the above ad for the first time the other day, even given the "limited menu" which I know at least one other forum member stated would either have to be expanded or the price reduced for him to have any interest, I became very intrigued because, to me at least, they stand out above the competition in New Orleans (especially if, like me, you crave the clean-cut, All-American type look).

Anyway, I sent a text message last night wishing Mike a Happy New Year and being as friendly as I possibly could and stating my own desired activities for a meeting (which are all light and would seem to conform to his "restrictive menu,") but I've heard nothing back notwithstanding the fact that I see he logged onto his account today for the first time since December 21, 2019.

I was just wondering if members may have any theories on the obvious discrepancy of the "visitor for only a short time" contrasting with the fact his ad has listed him in New Orleans for months now. Also note he touts himself as a "Tall Hung Texan."

My own theory (and that's all it is) is that he actually continues to reside in Texas, but if he can get enough interest (either through an overnight or several solid clients for shorter durations), he could enjoy an all-expense paid vacation to the Big Easy, but that's just a theory. That would explain the apparent dearth of past meetings to culminate in any type of review at all (Daddy's or R/M, of which there's one of each). Does anyone have any other theory you'd like so share? Thanks.

You could always just, idk, ask him.

That was certainly an option I could have deployed as opening communication with him, but I obviously didn't (I try and keep any opening communication as friendly and positive as I can and that would have been a little like using a direct 2x4 to the forehead IMO).

Having said that, once someone declines to correspond with me (particularly given the excessively-friendly tone I used in that opening communication) when I know he logged onto his account coincidentally within two hours of my correspondence (after a 10-day hiatus), not even so much as a, "I don't think this would work out," I tend to cease communication totally. Thus, for me in my present situation, your suggestion is inapplicable. Hence the inquiry to the group.

Make no mistake: I'm not expecting much of a response to this post, but it certainly serves the purpose of assisting anyone who, if he's like me, upon considering hiring an escort, does as his first step of due-diligence a search on this website for past posts. This post will simply add one more for consideration.

It could also be that he grew up in Texas and still has the accent, or the general image, of a Texan.

I will say that I've often been pleasantly surprised to see what seem like new advertisers in (i.e. from) my city on Rentmen, only to find out that they're only there for a day or a few days.

Thanks for that observation, Bostonman! I did manage to learn more about him as a function of just how small the NO market is and the fact that everybody seems to know everybody or know of everybody entailing the gay scene there.

If I were ever to be able to meet with him, I’m convinced he may very likely be my #1 all-time favorite hire (of about 25 I’ve hired all from the NO market with only one or two as NO visitors), but it’s a moot point given that the odds of that ever happening appear awfully slim at this point.

I just would have appreciated at least some form of response, even if it had merely been something like, “the activities you outlined simply aren’t appealing to me, and I therefore don’t think I can adequately fulfill your request, but I appreciate your interest in my ad.”

Who knows? Maybe if my theory is right, I may get a reply back from him out of the blue when he next visits NO. That’s why I used the words “awfully slim” above.

Hope your weekend goes well!

Considering, as you stated, he had not logged onto his account for ten days, it is possible he had many messages and did not have time or did not want to make time to respond.

Ten days without accessing an ad is a long time but consider the holiday.

Of course, I can be wrong but I think his failure to respond to you was likely too many messages in his inbox.

Thanks for the thoughtful response. The only problem with your theory is that, just as he requested, I sent a text message.

The same has now transpired for another prospect I opted to pursue upon Mike's lack of response. Here's his ad: https://friendboy.pro/boys/zappos42. Once again, I adhered to his request of "text first!" So far, nothing (though school is not in session, so he may be awaiting the Spring semester).

There's one thing the "new generation" of escorts has made me appreciate very much, and that is Sideline. The phone number from which I send these texts is useless in terms of looking up who I am, and that's something I like very much given some of the trends the arena is taking.

I've found that some escorts get lazy about updating the text of the ad. There's one guy I saw advertising yesterday whose text still lists his travel dates for November even though he is back in his home town.

I’ve seen that too, and it wasn’t until a light bulb went off with me that his ad had the same wording for months that prompted me to wonder if maybe he lives in NO.

From what I’m told, he lived in Texas much of his life but would relish every opportunity to visit New Orleans that he got and did in fact move there but he didn’t know for how long and he doesn’t have a clue what his current status is.

As someone said in a prior post, at least he’s honest about his narrow lists of interests, but if he didn’t feel he could fulfill my own narrow interests, I would figure 99.92% of members of this site wouldn’t pursue a meeting with him given those limitations. That likely may explain the dearth of reviews, but it also begs the question of continuing to pay for an ad that apparently rules out such a vast pool of prospective clients.

The one DR he has indicates he was very reserved and seemed “nervous.” Maybe that’s still the case. I just know that his pictures make him a “Franchise Player” for my team worthy of trading away future first-round draft choices to sign, but that doesn’t mean anything if the player has no interest in playing on team. ?

Just a brief update. Despite his ad saying the best way to contact is via text, I did send a message through R/M's email system two days ago. He responded within an hour asking when I may wish to hook up. I responded back indicating a time and date but also indicating that, if that time and date didn't work, any day would work on my end and supplied the times I could meet up (from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. or from 8 p.m. until later any evening).

I also asked how much longer he may be in NO since his ad states, "visitor in the area only for a short time." The system indicates he saw the email, yet he chose not to make any reply at all. I think that's likely an indication he resides in Texas as per my original theory, and I KNOW it's an indication it's time to cut my minimal losses and move on.

Regrettably, moving on is quite difficult to accomplish given that there simply are almost no providers at all anymore with pictures even remotely as appealing as his. Oh well, that development has saved me quite a bit of money over the last several years, so there is at least some upside to the current makeup of the market of providers which I see has been lamented about on several posts of late!
