Anyone with experience with Cancelon?

I was looking for a hotel in LA for April and one of the options was Cancelon, which was significantly less expensive, even compared to the Conference Hotel with the Conference rate. They buy and sell Hotel cancellations. I am a bit antsy about using them as they give you a confirmation from them but no confirmation from the hotel until very close to the date.

Any experiences??

No one with experience with this? Seems like too good a deal, which makes me ponder the wisdom of using them.

I’m 90% sure I used them to reserve a 5 star hotel in Paris at a major discount once.

 

For me it worked out fine. I did tons of online research ahead of time and they seemed

legitimate. In the end I figured it was Paris and I could always snag a last minute hotel

room somewhere if it didn’t work out. The discount as so large that, to me, it was worth

the risk.
