A man walks down the street,

It's a street in a strange world

Maybe its the Third World

Maybe its his first time around

He doesn't speak the language

He holds no currency

He is a foreign man

He is surrounded by the sound

The Sound

Cattle in the marketplace

Scatterlings and orphanages

He looks around, around

He sees angels in the architecture

Spinning in infinity

He say "Amen!" and "Hallelujah!"

Love that Spinning in infinity Simon uses the "in" as part of five consecutive syllables. The line leaves you spinning.

I have never seen a purplekow;

I never hope to see one;

I can tell you anyhow;

I'd rather see than be one

Help there is a purplekow in my mirror

Thanks for posting some of Paul Simon's lyrics---from "Graceland" I think. I had almost forgotten what an extremely talented poet Paul

Simon was---and the particular line you pointed out is a wonderful example of his genius with words.

My favourite songs go back to the '60s---"I am a rock" "The Sound of Silence" "Dangling Conversation" "Brdige over troubled water" and of course "Feeling groovy" and "At the zoo."

I just started a cd of "The Best of Simon and Garfunkel" and I think I'll stop and just enjoy them.

Happy Birthday Paul.
