Of course, I'm referring to the 1976 "Paul Lynde Halloween Special," featuring Margaret Hamilton as the Wicked Witch, Witchie Poo from H. R. Pufnstuf, KISS, Pinky Tuscadero, Donny & Marie, and Florence Henderson going disco. I've never seen it (it was only broadcast once and never repeated) but I'd heard about it so much that I started to believe it was an urban legend.

Here's a review (it's truly bizarre): http://www.filmthreat.com/index.php?section=features&Id=859

And here's the link to buy it cheaply on amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Paul-Lynde-Halloween-Special/dp/B000TEUSMC/ref=sr_1_1/104-6703173-2765510?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1184574822&sr=1-1

Rick,

Thanks for heads-up. I put in my pre-order. It looks like the DVD won't be available until October 2, 2007.

Now, question for you...where I can I find a Charles Nelson Reilly Halloween Special DVD? :)

Hmmmm, for some strange reason I have a vague recollection of this program when it was originally broadcast. Picture it, the Deep South, 1976, a 14 year old boy watching Paul Lynde as a trucker on a major network holiday special.

THAT explains a lot of what happened in the following years. :o :p

I have, of course, ordered a copy.

Thanks Rick. :-)

For those who have not pre-ordered, this is indeed being released tomorrow Oct 2 2007.

I have never seen a purplekow;

I never hope to see one;

I can tell you anyhow;

I'd rather see than be one

Help there is a purplekow in my mirror

Well, my copy of the Paul Lynde Halloween Special DVD arrived last night!

I'll reserve most comments for now until everyone gets a chance to see the show, but I loved seeing Margaret Hamilton (who looks almost exactly the same as she did in the Wizard of Oz) and Kiss (I'm in love with Paul Stanley's furry belly!).
