Without much education Roald knows that he will do a manual trade, probably welding, and welders make 4X in Germany as in Czech. But he's set for life now in a nice condo of his own, a nice bank account (and a 2nd home here in the US .

 

People may be surprised how inexpensive a large 1-bedroom condo is in Czech. Many are much less.

Housing in Europe is very heavily subsidized to keep it affordable in cost so there are probably transfer rules about selling to foreigners.
