A little context to this question - I'm a writer and I have an idea for a story about an escort who develops a relationship with a client. It's supposed to more of a "fantasy" story, but I'd like it to at least sound believable. So have you ever developed feelings for a client that lead to a relationship or could have? Or has it always been a more professional relationship?

Nope.

There have been moments when I’ve found myself very enamored by clients because we share mutual interests, but nothing romantic is happening outside the confines of that transaction. Who I am on the clock and who I am off the clock, while very similar, do not correlate nor intermingle. Business is business.

I could never develop feelings for someone who has paid for me. If I were attracted to this person and the logistics were different sans transaction, sure. But I couldn’t wholeheartedly say I would be falling for this person solely based on my attraction to them and not because there was money involved. Money skewers the entire dynamic and in my opinion I just don’t think it is possible. It’s possible but it’s certainly not authentic.

Makes me think of someone I know...

A client developed strong feelings for a provider, and the provider felt obligated to go along with it.... the provider liked the client, but not excessively so and certainly not to the degree the client felt.

client mis-interpreted what was going on and began "entertaining" the provider off the clock. dinners, movies, long conversations that were of more interest to client than provider. eventually, the provider had to ghost the client, which was super awkward because provider remained in contact with the person who referred the client initially (i.e., me)

Awkward is a mild way of putting it, but you TOTALLY get the picture, haha

I have a discerning palate - only top shelf candy for me! hehe! (My apologies to the original poster for making this thread all about me!)

This could have been easily avoided if the escort was professional/mature enough to have a conversation.

If you don't string people along, you won't have to ghost them.

I met with a provider a few times; after which he said he was "crushing" on me. This was a big "red flag" to me so initially I stopped communicating. After not replying to several emails, he basically said WTF which forced the conversation. We talked and agreed that's "Over the line". I've seen him a few times since, we're on opposite coasts. So far, so good.....

Interesting? Did you feel that he was being absolutely "sincere" in his feelings or that he was marketing and eventually was potentially trying to "upsell" you into more of a financial relationship beyond what you had in mind that you were initially contracting for?

I do think sincere. Because of the bi-coastal thing we chatted a LOT before our first meeting (and built a lot of sexual tension in the process), so in retrospect I think I (unintentionally) invited/created some of this. Lessons learned on both sides. This gentleman is no longer on RM, just keeps a few "word of mouth" regulars. Oh, and the $3X is ON FIRE which doesn't hurt o_O

I know one provider who did fall in love with a client. Into the third year of living together, he was still providing.

We were still vaguely in touch when he intiated "getting together" sometime on a Labor Day weekend. Initially, his partner would have been upset, but I hope that changed.

I said no about "getting together" and still do not know, years later, if it was the right decision.

This work is very intimate. Connections are very real. I care for many guys that I see so there’s a wide variety of relationships that exist. The tough part is when either party oversteps that professional boundary.

I can certainly see that in your case, Victor. You’re a kind and empathetic fellow.
