Homophobia, like many institutionalized bigotries, stems from the overlap of power dynamics, greed, and other factors including "us vs them" tribalism, which goes back to the earliest days of humanity. As social primates, all of us have various biases in varying intensity. As our species has become ever more densely populated and social, tolerance has become a critical set of skills and adaptations to enable survival and growth over the last few hundred thousand years. Many bigotries are learned early. Research shows tolerance best develops when fostered early.

As a species, we are reaching a critical crossroad where tolerance is no longer enough. We need to move toward Acceptance and we must seriously tackle our dysfunctional global hierarchy created by runaway capitalism built on millenia of classim that feeds the false belief of a "ruling class" being necessary, "natural, " or inevitable for our species.
