I find this whole situation perplexing

 

As I live in PA and have followed the headlines, I cant believe what I am reading about this case.

 

To think that these two bit hustlers could suddenly dominate the porn industry by eliminating one of several hundred thousand competitors is delusional. While Cobra Video catipulted based on luck, good distribution and two fantastic models they were by no means standing in the way of Boy Batter reaching the top.

 

The two idiots would have done better by working smarter and harder than by commiting first degree murder.

 

Kocis was not a very nice guy, not many people seemed to think highly of him. His models hated him, his neighbors hated him, the parents of the 15 year old kids he had sex with hated him .... and now Harlow and Trent do the PA State Police a favor by bragging about the killing to someone that was probably a suspect in the first place!

 

I am waiting for Dick Wolf to "rip this from the headlines" The question is will it be an episode of Criminal Intent, SVU or just plain Law and Order? :-)

Oh, my hunch that recently they thought they were going to come into some

major money. I think Harlow's new blog had his first (and last) post where he was

unpacking his new Mac computer and new video equiptment (post murder and pre arrest). I'm sure the Ferrari

was on order. Remember, prior to his murder, Brian Kocis had two. I doubt these two

guys moved into a 571,000 home "years" ago, but I admit - I never had an incall with either of them.

This whole thing is really sad. The article which seems to give only the prosecution's argument does seems to show that the prosecution has a strong case. It doesn't describe anything as definite as finding a murder weapon or a confession from a witness though, so there is still a good amount of doubt in my mind. I hope that Harlow and his friend weren't involved in the murder. I'd like to hear more of the defendant's case.

 

Regardless, it seems obvious that the prosecution is intent on getting them for something such as racketeering and the whole escorting thing. I wonder if the police might try to go through their records and try to prosecute their former clients like we always hear about in cases like the DC madam and Hollywood madam cases. For that. I'm glad that I never got the chance to use their services. Consequently, if Harlow and his friend end up getting proven innocent of being involved in the murders, and if they get off scott free of the other charges this whole affair can't be good for their careers to say the least. Thats nothing to the impact that this whole affair and spending time in prison will have on their lives.

If you search around the Net a bit you can find all sorts of people blogging about this. I would imagine the story will end up on Dateline NBC eventually. It is all just too juicy not to. So many lurid angles to the whole thing.

 

I have not been able to access the whole affidavit that was filed to support the arrests, but according to all of the excerpts it all seems like a pretty iron-clad case. How they can claim they are being framed seems awfully far-fetched. Between all of the emails traced back to Harlow's IP address, the fact that the SUV was rented by him using his credit card and driver's license, the apparent admission at the nude beach with the cops recording it all... My guess is they were using a very strong directional microphone from a distance since I think it would have been hard to wire anything up out there.

 

The one thing I can't quite figure out is motive. Certainly there's plenty of porn opportunities out there. It sounds like Harlow was obsessed with "Brent Corrigan" and for some reason he thought in order to get his hands on him he had to eliminate Kocis. Maybe he thought he was doing it for the object of his obsession...that might explain the "revenge" comment he made at the beach. I feel bad for all of those guys who worked for them at the VA Beach agency and in their films if any of them really are/were in the military. Their lives are likely to be ruined.

As both owners of "BoyBatter" are behind bars and word is police have all their possessions, including computers I'll bet they have already dissected like a jr-high school science frog, I wouldn't recommend joining Boy Batter with your credit card either.

While the story may very well end up on Dateline or one of its clones, IMHO the best story is one which begins with Bryan Kocis' decision to turn his pedophile appetite into a profit-making venture (not to mention a constant supply of hot casting couch material) which ultimately produced Brent Corrigan aka Sean Lockhart who catapulted to amateur porn fame while underage. Corrigan/Lockhart and his partner Grant Roy are variously portrayed as flakes, airheads, thoroughly disorganized, feuding between themselves, "bad news", or worse. Whatever they are, they spelled the beginning of the end for Bryan Kocis when Harlow Cuadra and Joe Kerekes decided they wanted Harlow and Brent/Sean to work together. Harlow and Joe proved themselves to be both ambitious and incredibly successful adult industry entrepreneurs when, in a pretty short time, they parlayed a military-themed escort agency into a popular website offering porn starring, among others, Harlow himself. (If you haven't seen any of Harlow's "work", you've missed some awesome porn - there's one video in which he both tops and bottoms and his huge gorgeous cock is rock hard in both positions :9 ). I accidentally ran across Harlow's postings on a porn industry webmasters' message board where he soaked up the knowledge when he was just starting boybatter, and it's clear he's very bright and was determined to make the website a $ucce$$. :9 Harlow and Joe seemed to have a tiger by the tail with their various ventures, but the tiger bit them when the lure of "bad news" Brent Corrigan beckoned them. Whatever "possessed" Harlow/Joe to think (a) they needed to eliminate Kocis, and (b) they could get away with it, they used ... ahem ... very bad judgment to say the least, not unlike the very bad judgment used by Bryan Kocis when he employed Brent Corrigan/Sean Lockhart and relied on the fake ID provided as his cover.

 

Now Kocis is dead from a brutal murder and Cuadra and Kerekes are facing life behind bars or the death penalty, while Corrigan/Lockhart and Roy's futures are uncertain.

 

There was a dreadfully tragic series of events that resulted from the interaction of these five individuals, and good writers could have a blast spinning it all in a variety of ways. For openers:

 

Spin #1: "The Moral of The Story" - the whole tragedy began when Kocis took his pedophilia to the video camera for profit - STAY AWAY FROM EVEN THE ILLUSION OF KIDDIE PORN!

 

Spin #2: "The Devil(s) Made Me Do IT" - Since both Bryan Kocis' Cobra adventure and Harlow/Joe's escort/porn website adventure abruptly ended when Brent Corrigan/Sean Lockhart and Grant Roy entered the picture, surely evil follows from association with Lockhart/Roy.

 

Anyone else have a take on it? :*

 

(And before anyone reminds me, yes, I know Harlow and Joe are innocent until proven guilty but even in the remote possibility they they should get off ... ahem ... in a manner of speaking }( , their lives will be forever impacted nonetheless.

My take is, and has always been, is that the police have 2 money-grubbing idiots in custody. And I saw a clip of the prosecutor say plainly "this is pretty much an open and close case" and I doubt they could care about the implications.

People are always saying that but it only pertains to the legal system. Based upon what I've read, they ARE guilty and the only way I'm going to change my opinion is for them to be proven innocent.

I'm not usually one for conspiracies, but I feel strongly that we haven't heard anything close to the full story yet. I've read the complaint and the evidence against Harlow/Joe appears to be pretty damning and if it's all admissible in court, then even a dream team on the defense would have a very rocky time disputing the internet and paper trails.

 

But the whole 'Velvet Mafia' motive angle bothers me considerably. After all, it isn't as if Lockhart hasn't made non-Cobra movies before. Nor, from what I understand from the agreement being negotiated between Lockhart and Kocis, was Kocis' life (whether 'in Canada' or not) prevented the Lockhart/Harlow film from going ahead, providing the principals agreed.

 

Other things that 'trouble' me are the 28 stab wounds to knock off 'the competition' when Harlow, at least, was trained as a Navy Corpsman and should know what a fatal blow would be. Why the excessive violence towards an unknown individual? And if it was panic/passion, then how was the search and recovery afterwards of the items in question was done carefully and methodically? In other words, this crime seems to be a very strange mixture of passion, careful planning, and downright stupidity. I just keep adding things up and the resulting number is higher than two, if you know what I mean.

 

That's not to say that I don't think Harlow and Joe weren't involved in this thing up to their eyeballs. But, hopefully, whether they acted alone or were pawns/dupes in a larger game should come out at the trial. May justice be served, after all, stranger things have happened. Even in America...

That's not what I meant. The post earlier was talking about Kocis' brank of twink gay porn and how there was a need to be careful with "kiddie porn" and there seems to be a double standard when it comes to the straight side - rarely do I read the "Barely Legal" series from Huster appeals to "pedophiles". Although I guess that "Gotcha!" series on NBC with the guy jumping from behind the curtain ("Catching Predators"?) shows the public well enough that not all "pedophiles" are men chasing under age boys.

When I said Dateline would love this story, I meant precisely because there are so many lurid angles including Kocis' penchant for barely legal/illegal boys in his films and his past conviction on the sex with the 15 year old who said he was 18. The whole Brent/Sean being underage at the time of his first films, his dispute with Kocis, the somewhat unlikely link between Brent/Sean and the alleged killers, the alleged killers' military escort and porn businesses, the actual murder itself, the subsequent investigation... You could easily fill a whole hour or two show with this story before the trial even happens...assuming that a trial does take place and they don't plead guilty or no contest. I think even a talented writer would have a hard time coming up with this story.

 

And while it might be a discussion for another thread, I think there is a big difference between pedophilia and sex involving some one who is 17 3/4 years old. Was Kocis a "pedophile" not according to the classical definition of the term. Pedophile means sexual attractions to prepubescent or perhaps barely pubescent children.
