I'm curious as to how many of you feel about unsolicited feedback. Generally, I appreciate it, as being a service provider, if I do something to improve myself, my appearance, etc., I'm happy to take the suggestion. Except... That one topic (and I suspect everyone has one topic we don't want to hear about, or we've heard comments in the past, but it's a part of our identity we embrace)... This is more of a point of annoyance for me, bit I suspect we've all experienced at different points in time... Ok, rant over... ?

I rarely give anyone advice, unless I'm being paid to give advice. I would never offer an escort personal advice. I could imagine offering advice about a business process, but even that is unlikely.

Whoever was mean to you or gave you some advice should have praised you instead.

Writing as a client and not a provider: Few of us are good at being "self-aware," and we are often surprised at how others view us and the things we do. If I were in this line of work, I would want to know what my clients think about what I do well and what I don't -- it would make me a better provider. If someone gave feedback in a rude and/or unproductive way, just block 'em and move on.

It really depends on the topic and the context. :)

one time, an escort asked me to give him feedback on how he could improve his technique

A masseur told me of a client who got off the table at the end of the session and proceeded to tell him everything the masseur had done wrong. Never said a thing during the massage. Funny thing is the things the client complained about the masseur would have gladly done if only the client had spoken up during the massage.

Ironically... The length of my hair is the unsolicited comment... And it doesn't come from clients; it comes from non-client gay men: "you'd be so much better looking with short hair."

Maybe I'd attract a wider client base, but at the same time, I like being true to me.

If I want feedback, I'll freely ask (which I do frequently, because I'm always looking to improve myself). But unless you're paying and you're a stylist, leave my hair in peace ?.

I agree with everything you said. If you're a client, and I can do something better, tell me... I want a client to be satisfied with our time together. That's of highest importance to me.

It's the non-client general population of gay men who are a bit too free with their opinions (IMHO)...

Considering communication between a new client and provider is already a mine field, I wouldn’t welcome unsolicited feedback. If it were a regular, a client whom I trusted and whose opinion I valued.. absolutely, I love feedback. But a new client, i’m good.

I’d also welcome feedback from a seasoned escort before a client. I have an escort/porn actor “mentor” and it has really aided me in the business.
