South Beach or Lauderdale for Escorting?

Hi everyone,

 

I'm an escort currently living in New Orleans, and I have the opportunity to move to South Florida at the end of May. I've spent a lot of time down there in the past as a visitor, and generally enjoy South Beach the most because of its energy, diversity and walkability. I like to avoid using the car whenever possible...Although it can be expensive, I usually find inexpensive places to eat and stay at easily enough. I'm not really into the club scene, but the international village feel is really cool. It also gives me a chance to practice my Spanish! However, I know living in a place can be different than visiting a place.

 

I was wondering, in terms of escort work, considering volume of work, pleasantness of the clientele, etc., is there a great difference between South Beach and Fort Lauderdale? Or is it pretty much a tie? I know it will be slower during the summer season in South Beach, and there is more local clientele in Broward County, but I thought maybe I could put an ad in Hotspots and just drive up to Lauderdale occasionally. Unless of course, things are so much better workwise in Lauderdale that it's not even worth it to live in South Beach, whereas I would do it the other way around.

 

Any advice from both clients and other escorts would be much appreciated!

I would definitely rather live in South Beach and have had a lot of good times working there. It's a great population and just a wonderful place to be as long as you don't have self esteem issues -- almost everyone there is perfect or damned near close.

Thanks, Scott! I noticed that, too! }( Yeah, I'm much more guy-next-door than supermodel, and I've still done well there when I've visited in the past. Most of the inquiries I get here in New Orleans from South Florida, though, are people from Broward County. I guess that's because most South Beach clients tend to be tourists?

As far as I'm concerned, Fort Lauderdale is the Disney World of male escorting. The selection is dizzying, and some of my favorite escort sessions of all time have been there. It's definitely the place I would pick for an "escort shopping spree." }( I don't think I'm alone with that feeling.

Hmmm....from what you say, Unicorn, it sounds like Lauderdale might be more of a buyer's market than a seller's market...unless the demand is so overwhelming the escorts available don't fill the need?

As a client, I prefer Miami. The gay bars in Ft Lauderdale are 5 miles from the hotels. So you either have to rent a car and be very careful how much you drink, or plan on getting a taxi back. I SoBe, it is all within walking distance, and all the escorts in Ft. Lauderdale are willing to come to Miami with reasonable notice.

Good to hear. Things have turned around a lot there in recent years. The last few times I've been in Lauderdale, it was tough to *find* an escort much less getting one to return email or voicemail. :-(

It's funny, I was always struck that seemingly *every* escort moves to Lauderdale when he retires or drops out of one of the bigger markets. I heard it so often I thought it was becoming cliche.

 

I've thrown Lauderdale into my regular travel rotation (shameless self-promotion: next trip is June 5 to 12) and so far so good! For whatever reason, Miami didn't do as well for me.

Well, truth be to tell, for many years it seemed every guy that retired from porn moved to PS. Lauderdale is a recent (last 5 years or so) shift.

So, does Fort Lauderdale's recent status as the place where old escorts go to die make it or break it in the choice between it vs. South Beach as the best place for an escort to move (assuming I'm not ready to retire or die just yet)?!

The prices seem to be comparable. Are places like Orlando, Las Vegas, and Lake Tahoe bad places to have hotels? There's a lot of supply, but there's a lot of demand, too. There certainly seems to be a good supply of escorts, but, if you're good, I think the demand is there, too. Although there are a lot of really young escorts in the bars, I also really appreciate more mature escorts, so I personally don't see that as a negative. Steve Jordan advertizes as 36, and my experience with him was truly spectacular. He is such a sweetheart. I hope he NEVER retires!

Don't think escorts in FL are all older guys. Recently had no problem in meeting cutie Brandan Steele. Also available is CJ Knight and others. Must also say that in the past, had no problems in meeting younger guys in South Beach. Agree with point that gay places there are more reached by walking than in FL
