I think Wanda Sykes is the funniest comic today. Here she is on Ellen, weighing in on Isaiah Washington's homophobia:

Not only is Wanda Sykes funny, she is right on target. And she uses humor to make a serious point (sounds like someone else we know). The saddest thing about all of this is that Washington's comment was made about the same time as Kramer's rant. Look how long it took for the anti-gay slur to get headline attention. And, Washington had to be forced into his "rehab" by the producer of his show and only after he kicked up another firestorm by denying that he called his co-star a faggot. Let's all hope that the spotlight stays on this one for a long time.

Wanda Sykes is very straight forward. opinionated and usually very funny. I disagree with you about the comparison of Washington's remarks to the rant made by Micheal Richards. That rant was caught on tape and played millions of times on You Tube and on network television. Washington's initial comment was made in the course of a heated discussion with a castmate and was overheard by many others but was not videotaped. There was some publicity about it but not as much as there was about a taped rant showing exactly what had occurred. Much more heat was brought to bear on Washington when he reopened the discussion at the Golden Globes and there was video evidence of his remarks.

I think the availability of the tape made the Micheal Richards rant more of a story. I think the disgust with the remarks was equal once there was a tape of Washington.
