Shouldn't this be in the movie thread? After all, THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE is the most important work she ever did.

Her (identical) twin sister Stockard must be devastated.

She is the reason I liked Thoroughly Modern Millie.

Saw her years ago, Hello Dolly revival tour, when I was too young to know how special that was. She was adored by the audience. I could tell that much.

She is the reason I liked Thoroughly Modern Millie.

She was an unusual performer. Singing on her own, not the context of a musical or film, she was just ok

There is not much new that can be written about the play "Legends" with Carol and Mary Martin. In the first few cities on tour, Martin was slow remembering the dialogue - not a new problem, but especially difficult when the plot never went anywhere after the first scene. (I saw the play in Boston.)

Carol enjoyed doing publicity. In Dallas, someone asked her why was not Mary Martin there too

Carol, "She is back at the hotel learning her lines!"
