Generals are seldom liked by officers or enlisted me and women. Absolutely true of Westmoreland in Vietnam, but General Abrams was the exception in Vietnam; he was liked by most people.

You know his daughter is Murphy Brown, right?

Your joke about Murphy Brown being the daughter of either George Patton or George C Scott escapes me. Sorry.

General Patton married Avery Brown twice. I laid it all out in pictures above.

I didn't watch the original series. I only watch it now because Jake McDorman plays Avery. But Avery is a male plus the character would have been too young to marry in the original series.

If you're ever driving on I-65 just south of Louisville, be sure to visit the Patton Museum at Fort Knox ("The Home of Armor"). In their Gift Shop, you can even pick up a toy gun/grenade for your young nieces/nephews for Xmas.

For the really grim among us, the Museum has the actual car in which George was killed "in an accident," though Big Bill O'Reilly seems to think it was an assassination.

Anyway, Happy Birthday, George. If you were still alive I'd slap you with my own pair of white gloves.

OY! You're as uninformed about TV trivia as Trump is about environmental issues.

Who do you think Avery was named after? Hint... she's in this picture:

I'm sorry. I give up. Please tell me.

Colleen Rose Dewhurst (3 June 1924 – 22 August 1991) was a Canadian-American actress. She is known most for playing Avery Brown, the feisty mother of Candice Bergen's title character; this role earned her two Emmy Awards, the second being awarded posthumously. She married and divorced George C. Scott twice.

Thank-you! So that's where Murphy's son gets his name.
