It's a type of cabbage. I do not like cabbage!

I don't blame you! Boiled cabbage is what they serve you every day in Hades. They serve coleslaw (which is made with cabbage) in heaven, alongside you plate of fried chicken.

And steamed cabbage with steamed potatoes and steamed carrots and steamed kielbasa sausage chunks is an awesome meal.

If cabbage is in Hades and coleslaw in heaven I guess I'm stuck in purgatory! :)

And carrots? That's what the Devil tempted Eve with! :)

I guess I am one of the few who enjoys kale. I particularly like them in soups. I also like to juice them. Add some oranges yum. I recent went to Austin and there is a place that had kale and durian smoothy. I found it quite good.

I love kale! I grew up eating it as a kid way as my family grew it in our garden (long before it was known as a superfood). We always prepared it boiled. However, as an adult, I prefer it sautéed in a little olive oil with some fresh garlic. Delicious!!

Another fond memory of growing up - boiled potatoes, carrots, cabbage and turnips. Boil them to an inch of their life and then add a stick of butter! Delicious. I"ll have to try adding sausage next time!

10 Health Benefits of Kale

Kale isn't food - It is for decorating plates and buffet trays and retreading your tired

Kale is one of those foods I'm hiding in other dishes because it is supposed to help with things like macular degeneration, which I do not want.

I generally like vegetables, and am quite fond of spinach, Swiss chard, cabbage ( try it sautéed in olive oil seasoned with lemon juice, black pepper, salt, a little sugar, and cumin - just don’t overcook- it brings out the sulphur). However, I can’t get past the texture of Kale. I always feel like I’m eating a plastic shower curtain. I’ve tried blanching it, massaging it, but I can’t get past the texture.

I grow lacinato kale, also known as black kale, dinosaur kale, Tuscan kale, etc. It's much milder and more tender than the more common curly (aka pan scrubber) kale. It has totally won me over to the kale fan club.
