I remember for years I was a fan of Falcon. Now they bore me. I've liked Hothouse for a while, Titan also, and Michael Lucas too. But it seems harder for videographers to capture passion or is it harder to cast people who will passion with each other.

So here is my question. What company/director has a product (and what a sad word) that allows you suspend belief that you believe the guts are into each other?

If you mean across the board, none of them. All porn companies are scrambling to compete right now, and their product is suffering accordingly.

Think about it: in the 80's there were a handful of porn companies producing videos and they had their choice among willing talent. Any "problem" talent was shown the door because there was always someone younger, better looking, deeper throated (to make up a phrase), etc.

These days, anybody can walk into BestBuy and buy a video camera capable of making high quality videos. All they need is talent (err.... "talent" with air quotes) and that's not in short supply. Add online delivery (they don't even need to burn discs) and the market gets mighty doggone tight.

But with all these companies making porn it just emphasizes a constant truth: making GOOD porn is DIFFICULT. The entire industry is sinking to the lowest common denominator. They'll take just about anyone because if they don't someone else will.

One studio to watch out for, believe it or not, is AMG. (Long dormant, and arguably the founder of modern gay porn.) They have a new line shot in Brasil and it's STUNNING. It has its problems, but they're improving hand over fisticuff with each release.

the last poster was right about how anyone with a video cam can make porn. it seems like every exhibitionist is doing a posting on X-TUBE (the hard core version of YOU TUBE). while most is not very good, there is some amazing stuff there and because it is real, it can be more exciting than the stuff from the studios. for example, do a search for : jeremy lory. here is a hot texas young man that can put many a studio to shame (you can google him, too).

a second problem for me is that once i started hiring escorts (thank you hooboy), having the real thing beat watching something on television. no porn imagination is needed when there is someone in the flesh having sex with you; the real is much better than anything the studios can produce. the internet has made finding an escort easier and safer; it has made some escorts at the top of the profession nationally known where this would have been a rarity 20 years ago; now anyone in a midwest city like myself can have brought in the best talent available anywhere.

Agreed that the real thing beats jerking to the TV or computer ... but if you're relying on escorts for the real thing, only the wealthy can afford to do it frequently.

When it comes to realistic porn where the guys usually appear to be into it, my friend Matt's Dark Alley Media has some really hot product. Matt, who directs and frequently (but not always) participates in the films, likes his men natural, not the squeaky clean buffed hairless look favored by the big studies. So his guys are real guys, usually very well hung, into hot, occasionally rough sex, in setting that can be described as "industrial" rather than WeHo backyard or bedroom. (His films are all made in and around the NY metro area.) One scene from his first release actually won a Gay Video News Award for best extreme scene last year. The first few films have some technical flaws at times in lighting and editing, but with experience he's getting more polished. Most recently, he has a two-parter inspired by TV reality shows - although this time the idea is that he plays the wealthy young stud and a bunch of hot guys - very diverse, multi-racial cast - are competing for the prize of being his "kept" boy. Matt's partner in Dark Alley is Owen Hawke (who is also his boyfriend), and Owen appears in all the films.

They have a website which is where they do most of the sales.

I know this sounds a bit like an advertisement, but I think Matt's films meet the conditions stated by the first poster on this thread - realistic depictions of guys who seem to be turned on by each other.

After a long time watching XXX. I now go with what Porn Guy does it for me! I have a Short List and usually am concentrated on the Hunk of the Month for me and What or Who he is doing. I do appreciate and give alot of credit to, the Guys who do put Work and Dedication into keeping themselves in Great Shape. Rather than a Guy who sits Back and just Waves his Big Dick around! LOL

Monthly Rentals, with the "Guy of the Month" in them, seem to Entertain me the most as opposed to Cast & Crew! We're all turned on by different looks etc. So like all other things, it can be a Crap Shoot either on DVD or IN PERSON! LOL :p :P :p

I remember a few years ago going into Manhattan and scouring the porn shops for new videos and eventually new dvds.Every trip in I would buy 3 or 4 new movies especially when Dirk Yates started releasing his videos. But now with computers and access to file sharing sites I wouldn't even know where a porn store is.Besides now I can't stand commercial store bought videos as I call them.I prefer to make my own or download stuff from the internet.I even bought this device that lets me view videos from my computer on my television.
