Just curious why some people change their profile names on websites such as Rentmen. I understand the guys that have bad reviews, but I know of some guys that have had only stellar reviews but they changed their profile as well. Again, just curious.

Never used websites when I was escorting, but here are a couple of possibilities....

Maybe their accounts got compromised/hacked? Maybe it's a security thing (since escorting, etc., is against the law almost everywhere in the US)? Maybe they have to do it in order to make a different city their "home base" because of the website's poor database management?

This is another reoccurring question. If you search you might find more in-depth answers.

Escorts change their name for good and bad reasons.

For example, some escort before they do porn. Once they're hired by a porn company they are given a new porn name. To capitalize on that exposure (no pun intended), they'll change the escort ad name to match their porn persona.

A few escorts I know changed their name to avoid being exposed for purposes outside escorting, i.e. got a new job or trying to hide from an obsessive client/friends/family.

Some even change their names constantly for no other reason than they can or because they give themselves a name in the ad as opposed to a description.

And of course, some rebrand to avoid negative reviews and bad press.

Escorting is not against the law in most jurisdictions.

You retired in 1998, it was a different world then, and I'm sure you did very well meeting guys in bars, hotels, etc.

Great point! They can change their name from GreatTOPinSF to GreatTOPinNYC if they move. Most mgt. would allow them to do it on their own. They can also create a new profile while keeping the same cell/emails for their regulars to keep contacting them. Some websites like RM might have an issue allowing 2 profiles with the same contact information...

Ive seen this too. One other possibility- trying to avoid someone.......?

Stalkers do happen in this business, a former client might become fixated with an escort.

Rebranding as @VictorPowers said could be a good reason for him to "refresh" himself and start a new because of bad reviews or any other reason.

Also how long can someone call himself a jock? Bodies also transform, mature and age, maybe NYCotter wants to be known as NYCbear/cub in the future. Styles change, what about adding the term hipster to a profile after few piercings and tattoos. Actually nobody will accept he's a hipster

Tony Bishop for instance has one profile for S&M things called "Sir Tony" for M.A.L., and his regular one.

There was an escort who used the word "boi" in his name L O N G after he could legitimately be described as a "boi." He would have been a prime candidate for a name change. On the other hand, I saw a guy who had relocated from the east coast (don't remember where) to Los Angeles. He changed his name because having a name that referenced the east coast was rather silly when he lived on the west coast. Name changes are not a red flag to me unless they occur frequently and/or appear to occur for no reason.
