This question is more of technical one on how to contact escorts.

I'll be in London for 3 weeks Sept-Oct and want to set up some escort dates. I will have me iPhone but will use it for only connecting to the internet for web access and email. I will not be able to make calls. I also have downloaded WhatsApp and want to use it. I've noticed that many escorts prefer SMS or WhatsApp text messages. I don't think I will be able to use text messaging on my iPhone. So, I will need to use WhatsApp which I have never used.

So, how do I make sense of the London Phone Numbers. They all begin with +44. When setting up a contact on WhatsApp, do I include +44? For Example: "+44 123 456 7890". If I have access to a phone, what do I dial?

Thank you for any help you can give.

Yes, +44 is the country code for the UK. The next four numbers are like an area code or exchange. The last six are the number. So assuming your WhatsApp is connected to your US number then you should add the contacts with +44.

If you end up getting a UK number, for example if you pick up a prepaid SIM card, then it’s a little different to make a call. You drop the +44, add a 0 (zero) to the front then dial the rest of the numbers. The +44 should still work for creating the contact for WhatsApp in this case.

For example, either:

+44 1234 567 890

OR

01234 567 890

I use WhatsApp all the time when traveling. GBoi is right....just put a +44 in so that you can connect with them.

Your iPhone text messages may work too....when on Wi-Fi the messages will transmit if the recipient is also on an iPhone. Works well if you want to text folks in the US with an iPhone.

Finally, all of the major companies have reasonable international plans. I’m with AT&T....$10/day let’s my phone work overseas by extending my data plan to all international locations. Well worth the $10 (to me)...

Thanks guys for the info. Very helpful.

My cell carrier is Verizon. I haven't checked lately on their international rate. We travel for multiple months so the AT&T rate would cost us $700. In Japan, I discovered and fell in love with Pocket WiFi. In Europe, I use My Webspot. I can connect up to five devices (we take 2 iPhones and 2 iPads). It gives me web access while we're on the go. It's more reliable and secure than most hotels.

One enormous detail on using WhatsApp everyone forgets to tell: You can't just text or call any number. It has to already be in your phone's contacts with a + and country code before the number. Then it will show up in WhatsApp as a number to choose from. Drove me nuts for days before I figured it out.

I assume like most non-US places WhatsApp is all people use, especially escorts. You can also voice and video call with it.

My repeats all go on my Facebook so I can use Messenger too (half my cruising is also FB).

To stay in touch with the US, airlines, etc. I use GrooveIP Pro, which costs about $4 plus a tiny amount for credits......under .5 cents/min. I think it works on top of Google Voice but is much clearer. You also get a number that you can give to people in the US or just forward your calls like I do. Sis calls to see what I'm up to, I tell her I having lunch in Paris.

Everyone everywhere I travel (except the US) seems to use WhatsApp. As pointed out, it's free as long as you have a wireless connection! And as the previous poster points out, you first have to enter the contact in your "contacts" file. But it's super easy and user friendly.

For AT&T users: I find that buying a small data package from AT&T's global passport program is a great investment. $30 or $60 for a month and covers just about anywhere on the planet. I use it for car navigation, phone calls, cruising (in all ways), grindr -- the sixty buck package is hard to use up in a month even with heavy use.
